Mixing tires
Looks like I need to replace the fronts on my M3 - the car has Continental Super Sport 3 and the rears have a ton of tread ~8/32. Should I stick with the Continentals or change to Michelin Pilot Super Sports up front?
If I had to replace all 4 then I would go with the Michelins... |

For normal street driving it should be fine.
In terms of performance, it will probably handle a little weird when driving at the limit since you will have more grip up front and less in back... go drifting?

You are in a predicament there. I would not want to keep the Continentals and I would never mix tires. If it were me, I would sell the Continentals and snag a set of 4 Michelin PSS. Mixing tires is never a good idea because they will perform differently in the same conditions (unpredictable handling). I guess if you put around like a grandma then it won't matter but if that's the case why drive an M3? If I saw a used car with mixed tires I would assume that the owner has cut corners elsewhere in maintaining the car.

replace your fronts, then swap to PSS when they're all worn. I wouldn't mix brands, hell, i wouldn't even mix within a brand.
