On reading this link to the Car and Driver article, where did they come up with the 419lb difference?

419lb = 190kg approx yet the actual figure is only 110kg which is roughly 220lb, that's a huge 199lb difference. Piss poor reporting. If this type of misleading factual evidence is common practice from this magazine then I doubt every one of their test results.

They mistook DIN for EU weight.

Love everything except the wing. Makes it look like one of the million cheap rice burner Honda Civics, Acura Integras, and Mitsubishi Eclipse's you see all over the place. Also............115,000 Euros ? That's about $171k. Why would anyone buy this car when for about 15,000 more (Euros) you can get an F430 ???? If someone can afford $171k, they can afford $195k for the Ferrari. This is way overpriced.

^^ Some mindless posting ITT.

If one were to compare euro regular M3 pricing to M3 GTS pricing, it becomes apparent that the price is significantly lower than 171,000 USD.
Common sense people.

I'm with the guys complaining about the video but only because I wish I could have heard more of the car, from what I could hear it sounds brutal.

On another note, I've driven both and of course it won't be quite as good as the GT3 RS, the regular M3 doesn't hold a handle to a 997 Carrera in terms of pure driving enjoyment on a smooth road so why should you expect a lightened, more hardcore version to be better than a lightened version of the 911?

Nice.. color is sick. but yeah 115,000 Euros? No dayum way. I think however the best thing to come out of this will be certain parts will be retrofitable for the average M3 owner who can get the parts #'s from BMW AG and wants to order them. Maybe just the brakes for me...like the alacantra interior too.

Doesn't look good for us. Call your dealers and SCREAM you want the car!!

http://www.bimmerfile.com/section/m3-gts/

Or at least a version of the car with lighter weight, wheels, suspension, alcantera interior, and exhaust.
Make the spliter, rear seat delete/half cage, AC/radio delete and wing options.

That way no smog federalizing. BMW needs a Black series or RS line to compete.

BMW did its part. They gauged interest in America for a hardcore M3. Like it says, the dealerships did not respond positively and instead want more SAVs.

It is not BMW's fault that American market for cars is messed up in the head!! The fat people want SUVs.

Suddenly I do not have animosity towards BMW anymore for creating the heavy tanks called X6 M and X5 M.

The Brabham M3 has a similarly spec 4.4 motor. It makes almost 500 BHP.

Happy to see the curb weight. Any chance we'll see similar savings among mainstream fare?

I have driven a porsche 4S it's a great car but I would prefer a stock M3. I am tall and don't like the cramped space inside the porsche and was a little underwhelmed by it all given its price.
