I didn't know about the windshield film. Cool. I had film installed on my entire front end, skirts, rear wheel arches, etc. I would have done the windshield if I knew that product exisited! I guess I will when I get a replacement windshield.....

Just caught up with a guy in the work car park replacing a screen on another BMW. He works for Autoglass who a lot of UK insurance companies use. I showed him my screen and he said there would be no problem getting it replaced through my Tesco insurance policy; I just pay the £75 excess which seems like a good way forward. He also said that I may have to pay extra for genuine BMW glass; the only difference being a little logo at the bottom. I'm inclined to settle for anything but BMW glass; it may withstand the pitting a bit better. He can replace it in my work car park or at their depot 10 miles away. Maybe I'll take it to their place.
