Tire/Wheel Insurance?
With the condition of the roads these days, I'm thinking about getting tire/wheel insurance just to cover for bent rims. Research says it varies by state and depends on who the dealer has contracted with. What have some of you guys been quoted? My car is being leased out of state so I'm wondering if they'd quote me a ridiculous rate since I didn't get the car from them. Thoughts?

i'll grab the paper work for what i paid in nj - if i recall it was a little over the price to replace a single rim . i've never had luck with tires in this area and to be honest i've gotten fed up with the roads here and the damage they end up doing to cars.
today on 78 there were 3 cars that hit the largest pot hole i've ever seen and ended up cracking their oil pans and spraying oil everywhere. will i get my monies worth out of it? probably not. did i get upsold? sure I did. does any of it matter? not at all - for the next 5 years i'll sleep happy knowing that i don't have to worry about it. |

I've gotten about 5 tires replaced b/c of nails and bubbles from hitting bumps or pot holes, can't remember exactly what I paid but I'm sure those 5 tires have covered the cost of what I paid and I think I need to replace another b/c I just got a nail in my right rear...

not sure how much I paid but it's really worth every penny especially with these ridiculous ny roads.. the only bad thing is that it only covers the stock rims and tires.. it does not cover aftermarket rims and tires.. also the tires have to have a certain amount of tread left for them to replace them.. just some extra info for ya

I got mine for $800 for 4 years. Its already paid itself off with the replacement tires and repairs on the wheels thanks to great NYC road craftsmenship. Mine covers both tires and wheels and cosmetic damage. It also covers most aftermarket tires except snow tires, as long as the specs are close to OEM tires. Since they discontinued the ContiSport my M3 came with, I can go any route really. It's really worth getting the insurance.

Cause I asked specifically "If I wanted to put say Pirelli summer tires on my car, would the insurance cover it. Yes (they even suggested I should go look for new tires since my Conti's are no longer in production). I just have to confirm with them that the tire I'm getting will be covered under their insurance. And yes, cosmetic damage like curb rash. Which wheel insurance company did your dealer use? Mine uses Auto Knight Motor Club.

Where did you guys (^^^ few posts above) go to get this insurance? I'm interested in it as well, as the I-95 corridor down in mid/southern VA is absolutely horrible and riddled with potholes and other crap. I'm interested...

If you still have the option and although it's more expensive... Purchase the Tire & Wheel Insurance that is offered directly from BMW. No headaches with paying out of your own pocket or filing claim forms or waiting for reimbursement checks, etc...
