They seem like the simplest best approach to the double sided belt problem. Just have a proper sized belt manufactured. I was real close to getting the Rogue, but I am worried about the power steering pulley change giving a heavy steering feeling. I have no worries about the AA setup.

The rogue system replaces two replacement pulleys, and lets you use "standard" belts you can pick up at NAPA. The AA system uses a single replacement pulley, and uses one NAPA belt, and one custom proprietary double sided belt. Its double sided because AA is trying to replicate the OEM belt paths and directions. I'm not an engineer, so I can't say which is a better solution, but I went with AA, and made sure to buy an extra set of belts. I think they are supplying extra belts to all recent customers but I am not sure. |

They are. I got three belts in mine fresh from AA last week. 2 double sided and one single sided.

I just got my pulley from Rogue and its great.
The main difference is when you car is produced. 1. if you car is produced after 6/09 then you will get 2 pulleys/ 6speed or DCT. 2. If you car is before 6/09 then you only need 1 pulley. 3. Its not the matter of DCT or 6 Speed. Its actually all the DCT's where bulit after that time. 4. The cars built after needs 2 pulleys because BMW changed the direction of the power steering pulley, why please ask BMW 5. which pulley is the best?? AA/Rouge/EVO, I think pulleys are pretty much the same. the only bad thing that I have really heard is that the AA pulley belt did break once. And the guy had to change valve springs. 6. I went with Rouge because of the service and because they have a very very wide range of pulleys which also means to me that they have knowledge of this type of products. (AND GREAT SERVICE) JuST A THOUGHT

A pulley upgrade is actually noticeable? Or is it just a placebo/imagination effect?

The single pulley system was introduced first on the RE lineup. Rogue decided to absorb the cost of the 2-pulley system (for post 5/08 and DCT) when released rather than charging more.

The 2-pulley system was introduced so standardized off-the-shelf belts can be utilized, which can be found at any auto parts supply. There is no performance differences between one or the other since the P/S pulley is stock sized.
In stock form, the S65 (post 5/08 and all DCT) uses a double-sided belt.
