I'm thinking only two or three. I know the Limerock car and it was traded in back in April and is just now for sale. They had these things stacking up on the backlot for months.

Another data point: I bought my '11 from a dealer about 3 weeks ago and they had performed the airbag replacement on 7/19. I do see more availability in recent weeks - it appears this dealer had held onto the car since March.

My dealer said they are going to do VINs for cars that were sold on the coasts. He said they believe this is a corrosion issue, so they are replacing those that were in "salty air" first. Now...this might all be BS, albeit very good BS...(i.e. Top Gun quotable)

My car spent the first two years in Germany (US military guy) and then was shipped to Illinois, so I call BS.

I bought my cpo beginning of august. Lease return was first week of june. Dealer held car until airbag was replaced end of July. Looks like a large amount of dealer held cars had airbags replaced in July.

I dont care about glut or no glut, all I care about is that I was finally able to find the exact configuration I was looking for after months and months of searching

There is an ounce of truth to that -- the cloth has more friction than leather and will keep you in place better. It's also why Alcantara is popular for the center section of seats.

The biggest drawback for a DD is that it is more difficult to make small adjustments while you are already seated, meaning long drives can be a bit uncomfortable after a while.

I got it. It's just that for me it is more street, less track. The cloth/alcantara didn't feel as good, and the seats didn't look as good. Also cleaning, being sweaty on them, etc is an advantage to leather's side. But damn my seats get hot!

The cloth seats are also manual and lighter. It's offered for people who want a stripped-out car for racing. First time I sat in one, I too thought the cloth felt cheap and out of place on a car of that price.

BMW dealers seem to be putting new airbags into the recalled vehicles that they've been holding to resell, as priority over actual customer cars who are out driving on the street. Fail. That could be a bad PR story in the making.

I don't blame them as it's all business, but it should be "simultaneous, not prior to" fixing customer cars.

I'd point out my favorite is the 2009 E90 which is a MR, SR delete, no nav, DCT stripper for anyone looking for that type of unicorn.

Anyone else find a mother lode like this? If so post some pics and what you found. This has to be the time to get a killer deal on the only ever V8 M3.

Is this actually true? Does this mean if our airbags are replaced now they need to be replaced again when a permanent fix is out? None of the BMW communication has said this.

Yes 100% true.

New design being worked on but not available. I've heard other automotive suppliers are working on a new design and not just Takata.

A year and a half later and the final Takata airbag fix is available.

Lots of E9x M cars for sale these days on websites but it seems less on mainstream dealer lots.

Auto trader at least has way more E90's available right now that 2 months ago. A flood....not sure, but definitely more selection than a few months back. Still just a ton of black, white, and gray cars.
My dealer had my car sit for 18 months until they could sell it due to the airbag.

I’m not surprised there are many e90s available. It’s my least favorite. The saloon. I just don’t like how it looks.

I have speed cloth seats in a sedan but they’re power, not manual. I’m not a fan of leather and all the maintenance that’s involved. If only I had moonroof delete I’d be set alas my car is weird that way.

Legally you cannot sell a car with a recall. Any dealership does that can receive a fine per vehicle. I don't remember the exact number but it's huge.

CarMax does it all the time. They even have a section in the selling paperwork that effectively says, "if you car has an outstanding recall, here's how you can fix it yourself."
