It's not really a competition; People are more keen for one or another. I have always preferred turbos to SC cars and it's that reasoning that will allow both to co-exist. Two diff animals |

And I can express my opinion about your opinion. And I think the price is reasonable. Carry on, kind sir, and I wish you continued independent success.

Understand what your saying as I rather turbos myself vs supercharger. Just wondering if this kit is too late to the party, especially with that price tag. I am in no means knocking Gintani as I wish them the best of luck with their turbo setup.

15k to 18k is a lot but, the real problem is you really need to yank the motor put HD rods/ lower compression pistons so all said and done your lookn at around 25k to run this kit proper, and thats something thats just for the very wealthy period. M4 baby!

its a lot of money. I mean i would want to upgrade a lot more than the turbo kit also. its more like a 20k plus build for me. if i were to do it, which i most likely wont.

With that pricing estimate.. I would figure it would be about 20-21k installed. A decent m3 can be had for 35k.. So your looking about 55k for a twin turbo e92., gintani says they have been running the kit for about 6 months. If its not reliable, add another 10k for a simple low comp build.. Thats about 65k... And add some extra cash for clutch and rear end bushings
Honestly my comparison will come down to a porsche 911 tt... If the build starts to reach porche prices. I will move on to porsche.. About 10k into 911tt and you have good reliable power as long as you keep it below 650whp... If the new m4 truely comes out to be a high reving, twin turbo i6, i may comsider it.. Only issues is what the stock turbos will be limited at. 335i were stock around 400 whp and it took for ever for proper upgraded turbos to come out But still, when videos come out, i may just fall in love and forget about the. Have you seen how much people were paying for HPF kits on their E46 M3's? Big money on a car that essentially was valued less than what HPF sold some of their kits for. |

I'm more concerned about the S65 aluminum block not being able to withstand boost. The E46 S54 iron block is super sturdy and a better platform for FI. I'm eager to what Gintani come up with in terms of reliability and performance. If they can beat superchargers in horsepower per dollar in a reliable manner, they've got my business. |

For now everything is only speculation since we only have a price but no performance data. But I'm sure if someone wants to take real advantage of this turbo kit he will also need a low compression build so that climbs the price to $35-40k only in engine mods on a $30-60k car! I don't see a lot of people choosing that route vs a brand new M4 with some bolt-ons or even turbo upgrade if available soon enough(maybe even Dinan stages with warranty coverage)!
My guess is that by the time this tt kit has proven its performance and reliability(if it do so), there will already be some upgrades available for the new M3/M4 which will probably be a much better platform to play with boost! |

The likes of Switzer are eventually going to get their hands on the M3/M4. I'm not sure if they have any proper tunes for the M5 (I think they are only doing a piggyback tune right now)....but if you want a tuner car...a german tuner car...the M3/4 is going to be sweet. I'm sure you'll be able to run 600hp on stock turbos. (assuming a 450hp stock figure). With Larger turbos 700hp on a block that was built for boost!
Saving up my money for that bad boy, as I do think the M4 will be every bit of 90k. |

$15-$18K sees very reasonable to me, particularly if the kit addresses issues such as the stock fueling capacity.
Right now, the top dog S/C systems costs $13-$15K (including meth injection) before installation and make close to 600 RWHP. These kits are maxing out the stock fuel system. Without the parasitic losses of the S/C belt, the turbo system should be able to make more power at the same boost, all else being equal. And to be much more resistant to changes in DA. But to make more power, Gintani is going to have to address fueling so if this kit does that and can make 650-700 RWHP reliably without doing a motor build, then f*ck yeah it's worth it. The problem is knowing where the stock motor is going to give. I'm not interested in staying with the M3 platform as I want to move to something that can handle in excess of 1,000 HP soon but if wanted to stay with the M3, this would be interesting. With the proper tuning, you could create customized boost profiles through the wastegate control to reproduce a linear powerband (similar to the centrifugals) by making boost increase linearly with RPM (a la the Procede). That way you don't "over torque" the car which results in a ton of wheel spin. There's so much you can do with proper tuning with a turbo.

Except for the fact that twin turbo 335 w/single conversions are a different engine than the new M3/4 will be based on. That being said the N55 that it will be based off of will get some quality internal upgrades to overcome the pitfalls of the N55 in standard forum. Such as a forged crank and who knows what else. At this point everything is speculation
