E90 Stock Dyno Numbers

Dropped my new E90 off to be modded today and had it dyno'd prior. Hit 363.7 whp. What numbers have others achieved on stock cars? Just curious to know how it compares to others cos I was expecting less efficiency, especially as it only has 270 miles on it and not broken in yet.

Will let u know how much the mods produce........

Ballsy-you took your car to 8400 rpm on a dyno with 200 miles on the clock! Talk about the mod bug! I do not think that is included in the break-in

varies greatly with temp, elevation, heat soak, and type of dyno.

Edit: OP what dyno?

Will post the dyno graph soon. Guess I'll have to "break" it in again on my post mod dyno.

367 rwhp would be a record for a stock car. The dyno database shows about 350 rwhp as the best stock dynojet result on 93 octane and about 340 rwhp as the best 91 octane result. Probably another dyno elsewhere would read lower than 367 rwhp. Search for the dyno database, sign up, and you can see the results.

Plenty of people break in their engines hard and fast. I used the Mototune method on my built S52. Search for Mototune.

I really don't think it hurts the car at all. Think about it. Let's say you average 4000 rpm over 280 miles of driving at an average speed of around 40mph. That's 7 hours at 240,000 rph. This equals 1,680,000 revolutions. I assure you that your engine is broken in after that many turns. I still don't fully understand the whole idea behind the 1200 mile break in. Your engine is broken in after about 30 minutes, and unless you've modded your M3 with rocket engines, you can't go 1200 miles in 30 minutes.

Think about it. Have you ever used a dremel tool to polish something. Run it at 6000rpm for 20 minutes or the same 120,000 revolutions as running an M3 motor at 4000rpm for 30 minutes. Look how smooth and polished your metal object will be. Do you really think you need 1200 miles for the engine to be broken in?

Very healthy motor - curious to see the type of Dyno as well as the stock and mod graphs.

This. I'd also like to see the build date on his particular car. Maybe I've got a hot 2011 too.

It was a 2011 October production. My dealer's last sedan order. I'll post all the dyno specs, stats before and after when I pick up the car next week. Was hoping for at least 30whp with the mods: new pipes, pulley, air scoops & filter. Ecu flash and maybe supercharge come next.

RPM and wear is not something you can add cumulatively! That is like saying cruising at 2500 rpms for an hour is the same wear as 8400 for 20 minutes or whatever the conversion is.

There is an exponential increase in the wear and stress on an engine as rpms approach a higher redline, especially getting to the piston speeds of this engine at 8400 rpms. Break-in is not about cumulative RPMS.

I am not saying you need to do the 1200, but I think it is smart to generally vary the way you drive for the first 1200 and take it up to redline here and there IMO is fine but with 200 miles to redline it in 3r or 4th gear on a dyno, which means a relatively sustained pull at 6-8400 rpm, is a bit much IMO

Sounds about right, my car was at 346rwhp almost 260 ft/lbs tq. The OPs dyno was high...didn't say what kind of dyno he ran it on.

could be the dyno. There are high and low reading dynojets out there. It's common knowledge in Lotus world that an Elise will either dyno 153whp or 167whp.
