no you can't, that's the only thing I didn't like about the Ericsson bumper when I had it. They just supply that cheap chicken wire mesh. I looked for a good honeycomb plastic solution but couldn't find anything before I ended up selling the bumper.

I searched also and had no success finding the oem plastic mesh. I ended up ordering black anodized chicken wire, it looks much better and does not chip from road debris.

That's the main gripe I have of the amuse. I don't know how hard it is to acquire the honeycomb mesh, maybe that's why they didn't utilize something like it in the first place. Try putting two OEM honeycomb together, that's basically the only solution I could think of. Let us know if you go that route, and if it worked or not. I know some A4 B7 owners have done something like that on their grills.

It's too small I believe. I'm not sure how you would customize it. I had found honeycomb plastic sheets for sale. But the problem is none was black and you have to replicate a compound curve which will be extremely hard to do.

Powder coat will still chip like crazy. I agree texture anodizing will be the best option. Also gives it a little more 3 dimensional feel.

Expanded metal looks cheap, like stucco lathe. I used this hex sheetmetal for a radiator screen on a bike.
http://www.mcmaster.com/#perforated-metal/=6dktns McNichols has a bigger selection of openness percentages and thicker gauges of aluminum. I bet they might offer it in stainless as well. http://www.mcnichols.com/ecommerce/e...navCode=cc:hex Woven stainless large gauge wire cloth looks really good on some cars, like Astons and Jags. Also available from both of the above. We use McNichols on building projects, they will ship samples if you sound serious. |
