Wow, so in 12 years of driving you've been in 12 wrecks of which only 1 was your fault? Wow! If you haven't you might want to look into a defensive driving class or HPDE training event - the discount alone will more than pay for itself in your case.

I had to go with a collector/pleasure car insurer. We have 3 cars and the M3 is not my daily driver and basically driven on weekends. The company that insures our other 2 cars gave me a ridiculously high quote. I'm saving alot.

Holy shit. You pay 7K a year for car insurance? That sucks.

I think I pay around $1400 a year with wawanesa. It went up about $300 when i moved from an '07 335i to an '11 M3.

$1700 every 6 months with a pretty decent driving record through Gieco. 250/500 with 1000 deductible.

Switching to State Farm. Same coverage, but 2000 deductible for $1100 every six months.

I have a hard time believing 26 year olds paying 116 a month with 12 wrecks and 5 totaled vehicles. If that's true, I am getting completely smoked on my insurance. It sounds like I pay more than everybody on this entire forum... even with a super high deductible and good driving record.

I'm in Denver where the average annual premium is supposed to be 18% lower than the US average. "Denver … US $1,515 average annual premium (18% lower than US average)."

Might be worth running a quote for the other two cars to see if you are overpaying.

Friend's family was paying something like $5000/yr for 2 cars after their kids had gone off to college and got their own policies after graduating. Insurance had adjusted their rates "down" from a peak of $6000/yr. Switched carriers and now pay about $1000/yr.
Thank you for your input but what we're paying on my wife's 2007 Jetta and my 2001 SL2 is actually pretty reasonable for Philadelphia. only the M3 quote was unreasonable IMO.

I wish my insurance was as cheap as some of the posters on this thread. I am 26, no accidents, no tickets (well maybe a few, but nothing major and 3+years ago) and I pay roughly $300 a month including multi car discount, etc. My insurance about doubled after moving to Germany.

Speaking of insurance, I have a clean record but I've been wondering if a rear end collision would count as an accident and go on your record? Even though it's not claimed to be your fault? Hope someone can shed some light on this.

Okay, I'm from Canada but we (husband and I) have only been in two accidents, both times not our fault (one was rear-ended and the other was frontal). Our insurance has never gone up.
