Deal on 2011 fell through - used 2010?

Hey guys - I had a deal in place to order a new 2011, but after three weeks of going back and forth with the dealer - it looks like they never really had the allocation. So now I'm left with the prospect of waiting and ordering a 2012 or going used. A 2010 e92 with 17k miles just came on the market with pretty much everything I'm looking for (minus the ZCP of course). There are only two problems with this car:

1) The car has a sunroof instead of the CF treatment

2) The car has 17k miles

Would these be deal-breakers for you guys? It seems that the people who have the sunroof love it, but the people who don't absolutely hate it.

Only you can answer those two questions. For me, if the M3 was going to be my daily driver I would have definitely ordered a sunroof. As far as the miles, again only you know if you will mind having that many miles on it vs having a car that has no miles on it. Guess you could take the extra money you save from buying new and buy some other goodies.

dont settle for 2nd best... meaning get what options you want. if your going to buy a used one find one with cf and with less miles....

oh yes not having the CF is a big deal breaker.

Have you look at the retooled packages for 2012? May help you decide.

All I know is, if you're gonna spend that kind of money, make sure it's exactly the way you want it. I was in your boat last year around this time, and decided to wait.

I'd only get the car if it had everything I wanted, but personally if it were looking at new I wouldn't get a used one.

If you were going to order a 2011, just order the 2012. It has the same stuff and is $50 cheaper if you were planning on getting both the premium and convenience packages on your 2011. It'll only add a month to how long you would have been waiting with the 2011 as well.

I was going to order mine but they had a new one on the lot with with everything I wanted except power folding mirrors and fox red interior. I wanted cf roof, but after having the sunroof I love it! Point being i would only settle on a new vehicle. My buddy jut got his e93 and they had an 08 e92 in and the payment difference was only $200 a month. Might as well go new!!

I would say a car with 17K miles that has 23K miles is a problem.

This is great advice. You don't want to spend all that money to buy something that does not satisfy you or you will later regret.

I am personally flexible, and I would take either CF or moon roof.

Haha, true - corrected. There is a 2009 out there that I was looking at that had 23k on it. It has since been sold though.

I just contacted my dealer and asked him to put something together for a 2012. So, hopefully it works out. Does anyone know when the 2012s will start arrving here? Late Sep / early Oct I'm guessing?

I think some of it depends on what you plan on doing with the car. For a track car not having a CF roof and the suspension updates from ZCP could be a dealbreaker. If you don't plan on tracking I personally don't see why the sunroof would be a dealbreaker unless you have to be in the "I have a CF roof" club.

For me, it's about the headroom. I'm 6'3+. It makes all the difference to not have the sunroof.

For me, if you are going to track the car, both the sun roof and or the CF options are a no go. The sun roof adds weight and is supposed to decrease the structural integrity, and I wouldn't want to be turned upside down in a car with a CF roof.

I wanted the CF roof as well but the only one they had for was either 2008 with CF or 2010 with sunroof.
i took the 2010 with the sunroof, I cant say that it bothers me that i dont have it but it sure looks better than the sunroof.
I wont break the deal for me though !!

True. I forgot about the taller drivers. Just wondering, is the extra room due to a different liner?

Depends on the colour. I like crack berry could have had either, but I know i'd miss the extra sunlight let in from the moonroof, and of course on the nice days when it's either open or popped. Plus I got Jerez so no deal breaking colour contrast.

I don't really see how it could be a deal breaker unless it's a purely track car. If it is a DD then NOT having a moon roof could be a deal breaker. CF roof for 90% of M3 drivers is just for looks / wank factor. If it was that important they would have stuck it on the sedan as well.

No. It has to do with the fact the the entire sunroof mechanism doesn't have to be squished between the roof and the headliner. I wish ALL the 3's and 1's could be optioned without it. I have about 1/50th of an inch of clearance in my 335. The new M is coming with CF. I can actually sit up straight and have a solid inch or two. More room for a helmet that way too.
