Cadillac's Autronic Eye appeared in 1952 with an electric eye atop the dashboard (later behind the radiator grill) which was supposed to switch between low and high beam in response to oncoming traffic.

I considered this as well but I'm guessing it'll be very difficult to find a car spec'd exactly how I'd like it in hopes that we receive a discount of $3000.

That's why I'm leaning towards ED. Not only will I be saving close to $4k for doing ED, I'll also be skipping out on some $430 "training" fee that they charge when they sell a car. My client advisor also quoted me at $230 for the auto high-beams option and $330 or so for the alarm on a 2010.

Don't just settle for the ED price. Negotiate and push your dealer so that you can save even more.

This might be my plan as well. If I can find an 09 spec'd close to how I want then I might just jump on it instead of waiting for the LCI.

To all you guys always waiting for the latest and greatest gizmos... it is not worth the wait!! This car will put a smile on your face not matter what version of iDrive you have or whether or not you have AHB or not! Try to find the best deal (ED highly recommended... I am still dispointed I could not do this on mine but at least I did the PCD in SC) and get behind the wheel....

Completely agree, mate. Having said that I'm glad I waited for the MY09 iDrive; and for the initial M3 fervour to fade: how can one negotiate?! I 'called' the recession to my CA in 3Q '08 and he pooh pood that notion ... so once the recession did hit I got to go back and get a better deal. Mind you, could have waited and got a better one!

MTrois, envious about PCD. Funny thing, is, with my 4 weeks' Customs' delay I could likely swing it, if only I could take the time We need to swap narratives and live vicariously, I guess

'09 .. '10 ... get this car and revel in the masterpiece engine / chassis.

-- V

ps I'm now calling that the Great Recession ended in June +/- 2 mths. Yes, it will feel bad into 2010 but the end will be called, next year, sometime close to mid-09.

one thing i can't stand on the HD radio is not being able to save 2ndary stations as a favorite. you have to tun to regular non hd channel first, let it catch the hd signal then switch to the 2ndary channels. HD radio is good to have but not that great. I also can't stand how sensitive the sat radio is on our cars.

I agree...remember that dealers will not probably give as good of deals on '10s as the '09s, plus i was told that they were going to lower the quantity of builds they make compared to '09 which were decreased significantly compared to '08s.

Why would BMW go to lower quality builds for the MY2010? That makes no sense; BMW owns this corner of the market. I cannot imagine they would do something that stupid.
