Met up with Alex last week and he replaced the kit with new ballasts. Everything has been working great and the angel eyes seem to be even brighter! No issues anymore

HID issues

One of my CamaroSS lights (left side) quit working after 2 years recently. I got a replacement ballast, but that was not the problem. Turned out to be a failed bulb, which I replaced yesterday and it works fine now. So, the bulbs can fail, even though they should last longer than incandescents.

^ Thanks for the heads up. I went and tested the bulb out by switching them. It seems to be the ballast that's failing on mine. I am still waiting for help from Alex/Alpine.

Bulb installation advice

When I replaced the my bulb last weekend, I struggled for half an hour before I figured out that one of the tabs on the new bulb was too wide for the slot. After I trimmed down the "square" tab with a Dremel tool it went right in. I've run across this before on my E92 with H8 bulbs from Bimmian. Seems BMW has pretty tight tolerances on those slots that can cause frustration.

Glad that Alpine has been helping some of you guys. I just sent another PM to them after another month of no reply. Will see if they get around to me this time.

Want to report back that another month went by and I still haven't heard anything from alpine. All in all, it's been almost 3 months since I heard back from them. At this point, I am not very happy with their customer service.

Thats great im glad it got handled... honestly products go bad and its no ones fault, how a shop, vendor or individual handles the situation is whats important. It seems like Alex here has outstanding customer service and that is way more important. Long went out of the way to help me with a TPMS problem on my BBS wheels and from now on i will ONLY go to LTBMW to work on my car. Im definitely going to buy this kit now because i am confident that if anything happens i will be in good hands.

I understand products can go bad. I bought 2 sets of the Alpine HID kit from all the feedback that I see on the forum, one for my brother, and one for myself. One of the kit is flawless all this time but the other one have been giving me the warning light since the very beginning (suppose to be a 2010/2011 thing) and one of the ballast went out on me back in January. I bought these 2 kits about 8 months ago. The last I heard back from any one from Alpine was 3 months ago. I have been very patient all this time with only 1 pm a month to follow up on if they have gotten around to me as not to flood their message box. It's good that Alex has taken good care of some of you and he seems like a nice guy. Maybe they are just too busy to get back to me but 3 months without a word is not what I call good customer service unfortunately. If any one has other suggestion on how I can get in contact with Alpine, I would appreciate your input. The kit is great when it's working I must add. cheers.

This is my point here...

My problems began months ago. I went through multiple PM's, e-mails, all sorts of stuff, sending my info multiple times so I could get the error message for the lights cleared. I was SUPPOSED to get a new part or something, nothing ever came, I got no confirmation of shipping or anything.

This and the posibility of yellowing from the HID lights is why I went to LUX. A bit more expensive, and not as bright, but so much easier. The install was a simple plug and play right into the headlights. When I lift the hood there is no sign of anything being installed.

I loved the Alpine HID's and their brightness, but the lack of support is what made me switch. Had I been helped immediately, I'd probably still have them on now.

Shmelgy had them too and will have them back on in a month or so after repairs.

I feel exactly the same way and agree with you on everything. Just wanted to share my experience for others. Alpine was very responsive in communication before I bought their kit. I have switched over to LUX now and as you have pointed out, not as bright but everything else is a plus. cheers.

I have had my alpine kit in for 4 days and I am also having all of these issues. I have a 2011 E92 kit with no ground. I am assuming that I need one now. Please help!

Just an update. Alex sent me a new ballast to try out and that one worked even worse then my original one. I sent the entire kit back for testing a few days ago so lets hope they fix the prob or just send me a new kit.... I found it kinda odd that the 2011 kits didnt have an external ground at all. Is this right?

I am dying without my angel eyes :-(
