Port Huemene --> Crevier BMW (Irvine)

Can anyone give me an estimate on how long this might take?

My M3 just reached Port Huemene yesterday. Figure someone has gone through the same wait I'm going through now. Appreciate any help. Tried to search for info but couldn't find anything.

It's almost here!! Thanks.

Depends on how long it takes to get thru customs. Once released from customs then it depends on when a truck can pick it up. In reality if it was longer than a week after customs released it I would be surprised....but then again, it could stay at the VPC for some time if it incurred any damage in shipment.

I hear it can take a few weeks before it gets to the dealership. The BMW hotline says it is "at the port awaiting a shipping vessel." Guess we'll see what happens next. Thanks.

Correction: Crevier is in Santa Ana.

Really? Nice. That's not too bad.

Yes, its off the boat. I was tracking the boat and it left the dock already.

Mine took 3 days after it got to port. the car showed up at the dealership even though the computer still said it was at the VPC.

Short answer is it depends on how backed up customs is and the VPC is, but it should take anywhere from 3 to 5 days or so. The wait is almost over!

That's awesome! I'm calling tomorrow to ask.

Were you able to pick it up that day too? I would think all they do is a quick inspection when it comes in.

Yes, I had a chance to look at the car the same day, but I couldn't pick it up until 2 days after. Before delivery I would check to make sure the paint is flawless. At first inspection my car looked good, but after picking her up and giving her a car wash and upon closer inspection there is some strange residue on the side skirts and the rear bumper. Double check to make sure she's perfect before you pick her up!

It may be cosmoline residue if they're still using it, which is wax protectant shell for the car during transport.

Do you know the color of this cosmoline wax? It appears on my car as a slightly gray hue compared to my AW paint, barely noticeable, the color could be likened to a thin layer of dust.

I can't seem to wash it off, hopefully the next time I get a detail this residue or whatever will disappear.

Yea, probably take the day off from work to get there while the sun is still out so I can see for any issues with the paint. This is the first time I read about any wax residue being left behind from shipping....I'll definitely check.

Other than that...upon receiving the car I figure I need to check for the following:

1) Paint (no chips, excessive swirls, scrapes under bumper)
2) Panels/lining (none loose, lines match up, no excessive gaps, no peeling)
3) Rims/Tires (no chips, scrapes, dents)
4) Engine (no scratches, fuild levels normal, ...)
5) Interior (no tears/scratches in leather or dash, all buttons functional, USB and IPOD ports ok)
6) Should be provided (2 sets of keys, manual, floor mats, flashlight?, wheel lock?, tool kit?)

Quick list I threw together...any other suggestions?
