That's crazy man, my recommendation is you go out and buy a gun at least for your safety if you live in a country/state where guns are legal....

Wow. I thought this post is about OP being scanned by the speed gun when I read the subject line but little did I know he was talking about a real gun. Glad the story did not end in a sad way. Its not worth it no matter how much we like our cars.

lord knows I've had my share of road rage but guns are seldom the answer. Im all for second amendment right but some people just cant handle the false sense of superiority you get with a gun(example in link below). To quote the immortal Chris Rock " If you've got a gun, you don't need to work out! Cause, I ain't working out, I ain't jogging"

You do live in a the most ass backward state in the world but with that said when someone cuts you off these days you just have to let them be. I am at fault for road rage and I have let my anger get the best of me at times but living in the DC area, you never know which punk might be packing and its just not worth it. In your case, next time slow down and tail him and get his plates really quick and call 911 because that would put his ass in jail for a few years.

Don't think too much about your commute to home from work, most likely you will never see him again. And he probably doesn't want to be seen knowing the fact that you know he flashed his gun on you and doesn't want you to show his license plate.
I get mad too at people while driving but I guess I have to just let it go sometimes.
Had a confrontation with a guy in Eagle Talon in a parking lot, he wanted me to come out of his car and I wanted him to come out of his car, lol, but neither of us did... who needs a black eye. Later I saw him working in Pep boys, and he realized I was the same guy he had confrontation with, fearing his job, he acted so nice to me “can I help you with something Sir” lol... We both recognized each other but neither one of us acknowledged anything about previous encounter. Not worth escalating things.
Just stick your fingers in your ears and say OOHHHMMM few times, it’ll help. Apparently chanting ohm helps relax your brain.

And you both ended up dating each other? That's how romances start.

I'm not trying to start an argument about the right to bear arms, just genuinely curious about your knowledge of Florida gun laws and how they do or don't apply in the Trayvon Martin case.
There is a situation where you do not have to retreat if attempting to prevent a forcible felony. Good guys won and Mr. Martin won't be doing that again.

776.012 Use of force in defense of person.—A person is justified in using force, except deadly force, against another when and to the extent that the person reasonably believes that such conduct is necessary to defend himself or herself or another against the other’s imminent use of unlawful force. (2) Under those circumstances permitted pursuant to s. 776.013.

You're an idiot if you think that someone cutting you off is justified by pulling a gun, especially if the person with the gun escalates the verbal argument.

OP: Too bad you didn't get his license plate number and get him thrown in jail for being an idiot. Perfect example of why some gun control is justified, as the least common denominator shouldn't be allowed to own a deadly weapon. Hopefully for his sake he doesn't do something that stupid to someone else who is packing, or the situation could become tragic very quickly. Perfect example of why I just keep to myself if something like this happens. Been on the receiving end of people getting out of cars, etc. to yell at me and realized very quickly it's not worth getting hurt over, especially moving from the north down here to VA.

Maybe the pickup d river should have gotten into the turning lane earlier and waited like everyone else, rather than cutting others off? Pretty dick move if you ask me. The rest of the cutting off wasn't necessary by the OP, but I realize why the beginning of the situation would have pissed him off.

I gave a finger to some redneck in Boston, he pulled up to a cop and told him I have a gun and was trying to shoot him.....and he left. Next thing I know, I got surrounded by cops with guns in my face :-)

I think it's a helpful thread. I get mad on the road at times too, and my girlfriend always say not worth it, what if they pulled out a gun, etc etc. I never thought it would happen, but after this thread I guess I should think otherwise.

At least to me, a very useful and educational thread. It'll help me keep my cool more on the road.

Glad the OP is ok. Watch out for those crazy people.

First post or not, sounds like you are getting empowerment from your car. Just because your car is fast and strong, that doesn’t mean you are. Would it have kill you to just let him make the turn?

And a black youth carrying Skittles is a good reason to believe "that such force is necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm to himself"?

I still don't understand why Zimmerman hasn't been arrested.

And that's why we need to end road rage. I take a deep breath and don't let it get to me. It's not worth it.

A friend's brother about 12 years ago actually pulled over in the same situation as you. The other man punched him, he fell and hit his head on the divider, died instantly. Other guy went to jail for aggravated assault and manslaughter. He's still in jail. What was the point!?
