Lucent Motorsports - said AC Schnitzer has Cams for E9x M3

Lucent Motorsports in La, Ca said AC Schnitzer has Cams for E9x M3, but only available in europe.

Ive searched and couldnt find it....never heard of it on here and was sure it would have been discussed on here if it was.

I'm fairly certain that CEC Wheels (also in L.A.) is the U.S. distributor for ACS. They would be an ideal source to confirm this info.

Don't bother with cams, I did it in my e46 M3. Was pretty expensive for the power it gave me, but it was the last NA mod left for me on that particular car.

You also have to have a really good shop do the install.

OK, 40hp for 20k.

I'm sure there will be hotter cams coming out. This is still a relatively new and complex engine. I'm surprised that s/c kits are already available from multiple manufacturers.

It's really just an engine its nothing new or revolutionary. I find a lot of people when talking about this car see it as some formula 1 thing that happened to make it into a street car.

if its that complicated its gona be a nice chunk of change..

Schrick make cams and more than likely it would be feasible AC Schnitzer could be sourcing from them...

That would be fairly aggressive cams - changing cams doesn't change the area under the curve, it just shifts where the area is - so if cams gave you +40HP @ 8300RPM you'd probably be losing just as much @ 3000RPM....

Cams are fine for drag cars and track cars, for street cars that are daily drivers they aren't worth it...

Always a tradeoff, just like nearly all mods. You're not actually saying you think they could get anywhere near 40 hp are you?

I would think that production volume vrs r&d costs would be the main reason for the lag in aftermarket parts.

The owner of Lucent motors is Tom. Asian guy who is always smoking a cigar. haha He's probably who you talked to.

Also, I know Schrick once made cams with for the S65. Probably will cost alot for it to work though, because you have to tune the Vanos to work in conjunction with the different LSA, valve lift, duration etc. Not sure if its worth the hassle or the $$.

It wouldn't surprise me - I've seen 20HP gains with cams on EVO engines, so 40HP on an engine twice the capacity isn't out of the realms of possibility. Of course it really depends on how aggressive the factory cams are, which is an unknown...
