this is the kind of job a dealer should be doing unless you can go to one of the big shops in the US that specialize in this stuff.

Hello,

I am not sure if you contacted me already although I personally have done the rod bearings on a local car here, from my recollection all his bearings were worn significantly.

Contact me directly if you'd like any advice based on experience with the S65.

Bhav - 3rd party warranties do not cover entire rebuilds...only the failed components and some collateral parts. Often times we have customers with cyl head gasket replacements, but we'd recommend replacing valve seals etc when it is off. Some warranty companies put up a good fight, if there was no valve seal leak initially - but would you do this job and skip out such a small piece that can result in doing the job twice? You or I would do it the first time - they will not. Just some info for the community regarding these warranties.

I personally recommend Jon for all BMW work. Other then the dealership, he is the only guy I would let work on my BMW's.

Hey Bro, I stuck an automatic battery charger on my M3 for a week and now the battery is as good as new. I hope it lasts. If not, I'll be coming to see you.

I am looking for a shop in the GTA that has experience doing this sort of work on these cars. I have done a search but couldn't find anything relevant within the GTA. This is my daily car, so shipping it isn't an option for me.

If anyone can recommend a shop and share their experiences I would really appreciate it.

Also, I am looking for non functional throttle actuators. Mine seem like they're on their way out so I'm looking for one that I can examine and rebuild.

Come by Eurocharged Canada has my rod bearings are being replaced has we speak. Talk to Vlad or slav and tell them jevon sent you they will take care of you 100%

Why did you decide to do it now? What are the specs on the car (kms, winters, etc)? Can you post pictures of the old bearing and if possible the crank?

i did it now cause once i got my supercharger kit last year i said to my self i would do it over the winter cause i don't winter drive my m3. i put my kit on at 88km in april 2013-nov 2013 110km i stop driving the car and didn't have one problem at all. Everybody know that its been a common issues with bearings on 08 models. pictures posted was the worst bearing out of them all i got really lucky that i didn't lose my motor.

A couple of questions for you:
1. What did you pay to have the bearings changed?
2. Have you had your oil analyzed at any point? If so, do you have the results?
3. Is there any concern from the shop that your crank and or main bearings may have significant wear?

I'd be wanting to find out why the one bearing is so complete screwed while the other is by comparison still has a little life in it.
Something has being going on in that (high bearing wear) cylinder that needs looking into.

Don't have price, cause I did full motor build altogether. If you pm me I can get you a price form shop if your looking to get your done.

And nope never had a chance to get my oil checked out back then, just had faith in my motor to last me till I did change everything.

Main bearings where also in ruff shape. But I just had one really bad bearing that was about to go, like I said before I got really lucky

That's what happens when you have a 2008 car and put a kit on with high miles. And I believe it was cylinder 3 that's took the most wear in the picture.
I got the more sleved now, so everything is brand new

Fair enough, again though if one bearing set is so much more worn than the others then there is a reason for that. Maybe change the coil pack on that cylinder just to be on the safe side?

Yeah but it doesn't mean it's applicable to all M engines... some engines will require a certain weight of oil while others no.

EDIT: Shit sorry, didn't not saw the date on this thread...
