which ECU !?

is the ESS the only company that do tune for the M-DCT ?!

i want to install an ECU for my car, i read the reviews but couldn't decide on which one should i go with, i would like to get big gains of HP and torque.

i really would like to do the M-DCT tune coz the lag is killing me, but the ESS gains is 20 HP while others have more.

so can any body suggest or advice on that

Oh goodness!! Where do I start?

1. Do you have the latest software installed on your car from the Dealer, if you do you shouldn't have a lag issue. Search there are many threads on this
2. I have a DCT 2010 and have no issues whatsoever.
3. Software remap is what you are referring to, I wouldn't bother unless you have already done a full performance exhaust, with a HF filter. Thats when the effects of a tune will be felt the most.
4. ESS know their stuff as far as tuning is concerned and 20HP is a lot form a tune alone
5. ESS cannot do the DCT tune without your car being at their premises, and you cannot remove the DCT ECU, only the main ECU for the other tune

Hope that helps

Software should be viewed as a tuning device and not a "power adder", however it will significantly improve drivability, throttle response and power delivery even on remotely stock vehicles and account for later modifications when added.

ESS is currently the only one tuning the DCT transmission (the DCT has its own controller), as Bob MG stated earlier - the vehicle needs to be physically present for the flash.

DME (engine computer) flash tuning is a different story and there are a number of flash tuners on the market today, with GIAC meeting our needs and heavily involved in our Supercharger buildup.

Active Autowerke also has a tune available for the E9X M3, but I'm not sure if they have one available for DCT trannys.

ESS is the only one that does any DCT tuning....powerchip and ess are the only 2 you should look at, unless your concerned about warranty then dinan would be best....but just a FYI i went to the dealer today got an oil change and asked for them to code my alarm that i installed and they found out my DME was flashed "ANY AFTERMARKET DME PROGRAMMING WILL BE OVERWRITTEN WHEN THE ALARM SYSTEM IS RETROFITTED" so just be careful who tunes your car if a problem arises your tune will be the scapegoat...powerchip gives the most power and i heard there is a stage 3 40whp tune thats currently in europe...i have no experience with the ess tune

Local dealerships do not have the proper tools to detect flashes, only overwrite when prompted to do so.

GIAC is pretty good but they don't offer a cat delete file which sucks because most of the after market exhaust come with primary cat deletes.

Gintani: is also very good and fast they can offer a complete package as far as pulley and exhaust is concerns and that will give you about 370-380whp

No, something tipped them off or you called their bluff. Dealers cannot analyze code - whether stock or modified.

Luckily, everything turned out ok in the end.

Check the system if your car is flagged now. they probably suckered you into admitting you had a flash

OP..... I have the ESS VT2-575 S/C kit and their DCT Stage II software. The DCT software is noticeably better and improved. The shifts are much quicker and the so-called lag is almost 100% gone. There is no hesitation when pulling into a parking lot or making a right hand turn as before. At WOT it is a completely different story as the car sounds like it is shifting like a F1 car.

I can only speak to ESS, but there are other companies out there that do tunes as well. I would just recommend to do you research and try to discuss with someone who actually has the tunes you are interested in so you can make an educated decision. Best of Luck!

This is true, our DCT software is only available at our location or at an event we attend such as Bimmerfest, Mfest or an event we attend at one of our dealers locations.

I'd imagine a good tip-off would be a catless exhaust, or an HFC setup with the HFCs not in the stock position (ala Akro) and your car not throwing a CEL.
