I purchased mine about 3-4 weeks ago. I was able to find a 2012 model at a dealership close to me. Was able to negotiate the price close to invoice and then got the BMW $3200 incentive (set to expire end of this month???) on top of that. It was a great deal if you dont mind driving a brand new 2012 model.

Also check the for sale section on this forum. There are quite a few nice deals. you may be able to find something within a few hours drive.

BMW Seattle and Bellevue sell M3s between $1500-$2000 over invoice and I'd be surprised if you could get them any lower. I was negotiating with them back in June but ended up finding a 2011 M3 sedan that was loaded and like new so I went with that.

Tips:

1. Get an individual color, there's nothing like a Atacam Yellow, Frozen Grey, or Shakir Orange M3. If you're going to make it an expensive car make it rare and nearly one of a kind for a small fee.

2. Get extended leather. It's an 80k car, it deserves to have leather instead of plastic trim.

3. Try the dct. It's a formula 1 type transmission and has converted many many manual owners. It's simply epic. Just try it.

4. Carbon leather trim. From an outsiders perspective all the trims are made equal, but once you own the car and see carbon leather trim far too many people crave it. It is much more valuable than the other trims and can easily be traded if you change your mind and can be installed by a 5 year old.

+1 Good Luck buying one from BMW Seattle or BMW Bellevue. BMW Seattle is better than Bellevue (Google BMW Bellevue...read reviews)..

My recommendation would be to call Harvey @ BMW NW(FIFE/Tacoma), they're great guys down there... not "big box"/chain/Autonation stores and will take care of you from beginning to end

DO look at used options. Like others have mentioned here, prices will drop with new models coming out, so you will end up saving tons of money. Most people with M3s take care of their vehicles, so I wouldn't be too worried about that.

If you do end up buying new, PLESAE do Performance Delivery or European Delivery! I did a performance delivery and it was a blast! Totally worth it!

FWIW, I bought my M3 brand new for around $59k from BMW of Salem (OR), not loaded, but with the options I wanted, ZCP, CF Trim, Black Leather, 6MT, and that included shipping to WI.

I've been hitting up a few dealers lately, and the best deal out there I've seen is $500 over invoice. most dealers are a quite a bit over that, and will try to convince you that price is impossible so don't listen!

Also, a few good deals out there on used low-mileage, 2011 M3's now. Good luck!

Spoke to BMW of Seattle. I understand the M3 is an expensive car, but despite...not entirely sure why the sales gentleman came off as being stingy about test driving a used M3. Kevin something or another. Off the bat, his best offer for an M3 (still in production) was 3% off MSRP. He claimed 6% profit overall...I just sat and rolled my eyes.

Silly salesman

By the way, ED according to Kevin, isn't worth it. 6% MSRP is what he claimed. Loser.

I got mine from BMW Seattle. I got 1k over ED invoice. ED is definitely worth it if you want the experience. These days, since even the ED car comes out of dealer allotment they might not want to deal too much.

The key is to arm yourself with knowledge (invoice pricing, any incentives and programs, money factor if you are looking to lease) and be prepared to justify your numbers and stick to it.
