Another c7 z06 thread

This car is bananas but whats up with the leaf spring suspension? Does this mean its not an independent rear suspension?

I really dont know know this tech (or prehistoric tech). Can someone explain this? And would this deter you from owning because all i know is the car kicks ass in performance but surprised by this.

I wondered about this too but it seems like it works incredibly well and GM has really tuned it properly. When combined with MRC, I have not read anything other than glowing reviews. We'll see what it's like on a track in early May

Yeah. I was just surprised at first because pick up trucks use this but i guess its more advanced and allows weight to be minimized while keeping it centered lower and allows adjustability. But never heard of fiberglass composite on springs. Guess thats some real strong composite!

Leaf spring on a solid axle car vs the corvettes are completely different. There's a set of leaf springs per side on a solid axle and on the vette, it's 1 that connects both sides which are independent. It might be 1 piece but it works independently bc it's connected to the chassis in the middle....

It's used so they can cost effectively set up the suspension in the correct angles. Pretty ingenious actually. And it's easily height adjustable for corner balancing.

Yeah read up on that. I would like to come in for corner balancing on a stock setup. Nice.

Yeah parallel vs perpendicular to the axles. It is pretty cool.

It's just something elitists can nit pick at. There isn't anything wrong with it, vettes in the past have had it and have put up awesome lap times. Besides you can always lower the car by removing one of the bars.

+1. people also always knocked GM for the pushrod V8's, but they've achieved amazing things with that "dated" technology.

Hopefully, when i ask this someone can give an honest answer...

...why do some of you care about how the suspension is made or pushrod engine...all i ever hear from my BMW friends, well, your car is old technology....HAHAHA, it still has leaf springs...hahah pushrods ...OMG those are from my grandpas era...

Car is fast and handles outstandingand (i just have a C6Z) i could imagine the new C7Z will be significantly better...so why do the components matter to some of you?

Cause I'm ignorant, jealous and an elitist.
