So, it turns out the software update didn't solve anything. I've been thrown into limp mode a few more times in the last week. Still throwing the codes for throttle actuator bank 2, it needs to be replaced. My SA submitted for goodwill and I just got the call....BMW is willing to cover 40% of the repair, which they estimated to be around $2K total.
I've gotta say, I'm not satisfied with this response. I started getting these faults about a week out of warranty and the car only has 37K miles on it. There's nothing they can say to convince me it's within the normal scope of operation for a throttle actuator to fail at this kind of mileage. What are my options here? Call BMWNA customer relations and escalate? Last edited by RBB; 07-12-2012 at 09:59 AM.. |

Mine was DCT. Sorry from a review of service document, the cause was a wheel bearing fault. They replaced the "angular contact bal, collar nut and lock ring. "

I think the total was around $1,900. I ended up paying $950 or so out of pocket. My SA was nice enough to press for goodwill since I was only about a month out of warranty and at about 40,000 miles. I would've liked 100% since this is a known issue, but I can't complain about 50%. You should definitely ask since you're just over on your mileage.

Seemed like a quick repair when I took it in. No drama.

Same thing happened to my car yesterday, all kinds of warnings, and reduced power with 43000 miles and 6 months after warranty expired... Throttle actuators needed replacement.... The great news, BMW, N.A. picked up the entire tab, thanks to the great people at Baron BMW.

I just put up a post this weekend as I had the same problems happen to me less than 48hrs after my car was into BMW service for an Air Filter and oil change (which they messed up)
They suspect Throttle from the 2 codes (DSC and Throttle) that were stored in the DME (out of the 6-7 errors that I originally had which cleared themselves in 24 hrs. I too am out of warranty by 3.5 months and only have 43k miles.... Any tips on requesting a goodwill repair? I should get final word on exact problem later today but I fear Throttle Actuator. |
