Tried search but couldn't come up with anything. I'm buying the BMW wheel and tire insurance so I would like to run same wheels (19" style 220) for my winter setup. In other words, I'm thinking about purchasing another set of 19" style 220's plus winter tires for my winter setup.

Blizzak seems to get a good recommendation but why is it I can't seem to find anyd Blizzak + 19" style 220 threads? Is this some sort of a no-no?

Any advice?

People in Europe do it. I run 220Ms with Blizzard LM-25 winter tires. Has worked great.

It is very hard to get 19" winter tires. If you want to have the same tire front and rear, but use them on the OE staggered wheels, the Blizzak LM25's are available. They are $272 per tire front and $277 per tire rear.

Based on the postings that I see here, more and more people are using 19" winter tires. Ben does know his stuff. There are lots more choices in 18". You may have to wait until the end of the summer or early fall to source your tires. Fortunately, winter tires aren't a concern for me in North Texas.

You should check your insurance policy so that you know what they will cover beyond exactly the combination that came on the car originally.

Lots of us run 19" winter setups, on OEM 220s and other assorted wheels.

Your choices are:
Blizzak LM60s (I think 255/35 275/35 is available)
Dunlop SP Wintersport 3Ds (I run 235/35 255/35)
Michelin PA3s (not sure on sizing, but I have read of multiple people running PA3s)

Cal is correct... your choices are probably quite limited right now at the end of winter/early spring. You may find some used winter tires or full setups appearing in the FS section soon, or you probably have to wait until Fall 2011 to see what's available for next season.

But you also said you're looking for "cost-effective" winter tires... if you're looking for cheap, you'd better go 18s, on OEM 18s (for your insurance considerations). 19" winters don't come very cheap, unless you can find some right now at season-end sale prices.
