Tranny problems

I have a 02 m3 6 speed and its not shifting smoothly between 1-2and 3 it feels like there are notches in between the gears. It doesn't grind so idk what it is but it shifts hard and shifts harder if its cold I changed the fluid and it didn't do anything

You might wanna have that look'd at. The 02 E46 chassis has many issues that needed to be addressed through endless and countless recall/bulletin letters.

I know that many people have issues with the 3rd gear stripping.

I heard a slight kick-back 1-2 and 2-3 is normal in these cars. So did mine.

I replaced the stock shifter with a shorter ZHP shifter, and lost maybe 1/2" in height (moment arm length, if you will). This reduced the kick-back by a lot. IMO the stock shifter was too long and it made me feel like I'm crushing into each gear.

A short shifter kit may do the same thing. Also you should flush the trans fluid if you haven't done it yet.
