Myths and facts about ZCP suspension

We all are wondering how the ZCP suspension is about 1/2" lower than normal one.

I had the opportunity to measure the distance from the lower spring perch to the wheel carrier bolt, on both a ZCP and non ZCP strut, the distance is always 190mm.

This means that the ZCP car is lowered only by the length of the springs.
The struts have the same exact length; but maybe the ZCP ones are firmer.

All you non-ZCP haters stop looking for reasons why our ZCP's are faster and better than yours. They just are.

Oh, and the ladies really like that we have an inch less than you...... Wait... I meant.

what else would it be lowered by? the springs set the ride height and support the vehicle. the struts only dampen the oscillations in the spring. for 1/2", they probably have a strut that can cover that small difference without creating two different struts. makes sense. firmness of the struts will have absolutely zero effect on static ride height as you measured it. they will still compress until the springs support the car.

raising the upper perch would lower the ride height, but now you are talking about a more complicated difference between vehicles than just shorter springs. a manufacturer is going to keep as much the same as possible.

The myth is that:

The lower spring perch, the one that is on the strut (NOT the one that is on the camber plate!!!) is located lower on the ZCP strut than on the normal one.

This was mentioned several times on the forum and never really confirmed!

I would only confirm that this lower perch is exactly at the same location for all struts, ZCP, non ZCP, 1M, EDC, Japan version. The ZCP lowering is done by shorter springs only.

The lowering happens because of the springs, but the struts are different (or at least, have different PNs and prices) between the ZCP M3s/1Ms/JDM M3s and non-ZCP M3s.

I don't have ZCP, but I have EDC, so my balls are just as big, but don't sit that low...
