E9X value after F80 release???

Hey, I am not sure if this has been discussed before but I am about to purchase an E92 and I was just curious how well you guys think these will hold value after next generation? I am buying an 09 so a lot of depreciation has already occurred. Do you think that when the new ones come out we will see a sharp decline in resell value much like the last year models of the e46 m3?

I sold our E36 M3 sedan at the begining of this year. Clean example, for $5000. The kid that bought is told me, when Im ready to sell the E90 for 5 he'll buy it. I hate to think, but someday the E90 will be just that, another $5000 car a kid can afford. I see this car everyday almost as i know the kid personally

Nah the E92 or E46 M3 will never hit 5k for a clean example. I would expect the E46 and E92 to both hold around 20k to 30k for a nice well optioned keeper example in the long term. Not too different than the E30 M3. The E36 will always be worth significantly less, especially here in the US.

my hopes are that it will hold its value pretty good, since its the only (main production run), and last V8 ( it seems)...maybe even the last NA...

that new vid of the prototype V6 just doesnt sound like a 70-90k car to me...

The problem is there are a TON of E9X M3's out there. I don't care, I love mine..but it's not helping the value down the road.

It'll take a hit, but I don't think it will be that much of a hit when compared to the E9x vs E46... since the E9x will still offer you something the new model simply does not have. Ultimately it's when you hit 2 generations out that your resale value really gets destroyed. Otherwise your payments should fair outweight the depreciation.

It will take a hit as ty are turned in for the new M3. Same thing happened with the E46M3, same thing happened to the E39 M5. I bought my '03 M5 in 2005 before the E60 M5's came out and the market was flooded when the new car came out, and even though the prices had already taken a major depreciation hit in the 1st two years, it to another hit when the new model came out.

I say buy it, drive it and enjoy it. It's not an investment, and it will be worth MUCH less whenever you decide to sell it.

Resale value? Its a lost cause. Any car is equity dead off the showroom floor-add your payments/mods/insurance/upkeep and you'll realize that its pointless.

Enjoy the mighty V8 before the onslaught of the turbo burble. Nothing from M in the near future will ever sound this good again.

If you want the car, you have to jump in sometime. If you are happy driving whatever you have now, keep driving it. I am confident that each additional year will result in lower E9X M3 prices. I wanted a newer car and wanted a CPO with 3+ years of warranty, so I bought one.

If you want a more depreciated car, buy an E46M3 or E39M5 or early E60M5. All but the later E60M5s are out of warranty now and I am not sure I would want to own the E60M5 out of warranty.

Seriously, am not concerned about depreciation because this m is a keeper, not that I think it's gonna be sought after years from now, but because I really love the engine and handling.
