i have one of those new boeing carbon fiber airplanes!! i put a body kit on it and not one but TWO HUGE wings!!

R22? Does he need an instructor pilot?

I used to fly copters before getting into IT... I miss flying a lot and I've been thinking about getting an airplane. I would like to get a chopper but they are just too expensive.

R22 I assume is a Robinson? If so no. He was looking at Rotorway or some company. He actually flew to Arizona to the headquarters to check em out.

He wants to get a 4 seater.

my uncle has a really crappy one, but it does work he lives in the middle of no where I don't know much about planes so I'm not sure what kind it is but i have seen him use it before.

The guy I used to work for had a Cherokee 140. Hands down the scariest 30 minutes of my life. Between pulling a birds nest out of the intake, charging the battery, pumping up the tires cause it had been sitting for so long and holding the door partially open while taking off to supposedly let some fresh air in (IDK why, I was more just doing what I was told at that point), I don't know what the hell I was thinking.

a small plane isn't that crazy, many people own/operate small planes

a small 4 seat prop plane can average 150 mph or so without completely breaking the bank

I got a private jet, it has lowered suspension, iforged landing wheels and vishnu procede chip.
Oh and I forgot the m bumper + the ricer spoiler at the back.

my dad flew in the airforce, and then for the airlines for 30 years... hes had many planes but right now he has a Baron.

Small plane (Cessna/Piper) can be fairly inexpensive, though, only if they are 20+ years old...
As for the average speed, the cruise is more like 120 mph than 150 (110 kts). It could approach 150 with a nice tail wind though...but not average.

My family has 2 Turbo Props of some kind, One is a King air and the other is a large ish Cessna of some kind.

My father flew Cobra's in Vietnam, and I will probably be leaving IT and going into Naval Aviation next year.

Cool! I used to fly UH-60 Blackhawks in the Army and later for US Customs. Although I do find fixed-wing flying a bit boring compared to my rotary-wing experience, I would like to get into somekind of Cesna 172 or 182. Something that I could fly on the weekends.

Yep, I've looked int Rotorway and they sound like a good company. There have been some issues with the tail-rotor drive belts on them (yes, you read that right: BELTS)...

The only problem I have with experimental stuff is that you are on your own if anything were to ever happen. Whereas FAA approved aircraft have to go through a gambit of testing and evaluation. If I was young and single, I would probably get something like a Rotorway.

Hell, even the great the (FAA approved)Robinson R-22 has had it's share of problems over the years. The biggest one being that the main rotor head speed is too slow, making it a bit tricky for novice pilots to recover from.
