me too. although my pace isnt horribly far off the very quickest cars out there. modified 997.2 gt3 pro driven is under 8 seconds faster a lap.
Yeah, the E46 M3 is right I between a momentum car and a high hp car in stock form. The cool thing is I can catch up to just about anything in the corners...just need a little more power to keep it close on the straights.

I have 308 whp with a 3.91 diff but the aero (splitter, canards, big rear wing) is slowing my down on the straights. Wish I had the S65 or S62. Corners and braking I can make up time on anyone.

I think they should have called the 330i ZHP a M3 "lite", or M3 CSLis or something to that effect, just a much better car overall than it's fatter M3 brother

here is a video from wed. the 25th. middle of the session has my fastest lap to date a 1:55:653 at the ridge. Felt good but think there is about 1.5 seconds more to be had just in driver. Later braking, better modulation of the brakes, and higher corner entry and mid speed. I have a couple others from that day, if anyone is interested, one working my way past a lotus and a gt3rs although i think i was given that one as he was in the 1:54s that day.

Thanks, but I would still disagree. I do the carousel different every time. Also I quit using the apex cone in that section and use a reference point 20 feet sooner because I think they have it wrong. My turn in at 2 is too soon usually and when I get it right it makes 2-5 much better. Overall I'm getting pretty damn close to having it right now. Now getting braking and entry speed exact and I'm there.

An M3 is on a whole other level than a ZHP. First, the M-Lock diff. Better bushings, wider track and easy to fit a lot more rubber. The M3s oil pump nut doesn't fall off and destroy your engine. In fact, I just witnessed the 7th M54B30 (4 of them ZHPs) that have lost an oil pump nut at the track aka...destroyed engine...today.

While the M3 is about 30-40 lbs heavier stock I doubt that anyone will know the difference.

You look pretty consistent! Only comment is (not sure if you are doing it) don't let the car coast when you turn in. Gotta get on the throttle and rotate the car with power to get faster.

But that's hard to tell from just a video but it's a common thing that I notice most advanced drivers doing. If you can't get back on the throttle (at most apexes)...scrub more speed under braking.

Thanks. I appreciate that. I don't coast but do need to get between brake and throttle quicker. I tend to rotate on brakes. But I aint not joke. You calling me advanced?

Sometimes it might be better to rotate on brakes...like coming off a fast straight into a throw away corner onto a short straight. If you are setting up for a straight, usually less trail brake and earlier on throttle.

Advanced is relative Safety and awareness are my top priorities. Speed is not a top determining factor. It's way easier to teach a safe driver to be fast than a fast driver to be safe.

I disagree totally. A safe driver will never be fast. A wild ass nut can reign it in and be safe as well. Takes balls to be fast and most don't have any. Top drivers are almost always lose cannons first not pussies.

I would have to say you were very polite to the slower cars. 1:55 is a good time........I think you will find the gt3 rs fairly easy to pass as you and the car get quicker.

it was a strange day for turn2. we had so few cars that it was open lapping all day with one run group. meaning I had c drivers on the track with me. Passing was anywhere with a point and some were pretty slow with the let by. i did have words with 2 drivers that day. The miata in the thumb, 11, that parked it at turn in to let me pass and a gti that held out his hand at 15 like he was getting off then didnt and drag raced me down the front straight.

There was also a black gt2 that was turning 1:45s, well out of my wheelhouse. I think 1:54 flat is doable as it sits just with driver mod possibly high 1:53's.

My pads and rotors last longer for sure but tires are wearing slightly faster probably because I'm faster and much closer to the limit all the time.

That's a good thing! Brakes only slow you down. The less you use them...the faster you can go!

Steer with the throttle!

its the truth i have had sections where i misjudge my braking and am too light and pick up a chunk of time because of it as indicated by the solo and +/- best.
