Dinan Lower Control Arm Monoball Kit

Anyone tried these on an E9x M3 yet?

I'm interested in a noise and performance report from an end user.

Been on mine for about a week. Very slight increase in NVH (noise, vibration, harshness). Some noise at low speeds, with no change in vibration or harshness. Under normal driving I feel no difference. I expect the car to feel much better under braking on the track, where deflection will be all but eliminated.

RJ, can you feel any differences in steering feel/precision under heavy cornering? I guess you might not have been able to test that on the street though...

It replaces the rubber bushing in the front tension rod with a spherical bearing. This eliminates any compliance (unwanted movement) due to the rubber. Part number 15 in the picture below.

How long is the install, and is in complicated? Im guessing you don't need an alignment afterwards right?
Should be a good mod for ppl who track or auto-x.

Yes. I think it's worth it. Like I said, I don't feel any significant difference on the street, but I'll have it on the track soon enough. I expect the car to feel much better under braking on the track with these control arm bearings.

I was reading on Dinan's web site, and it says the monoballs are for the rear axle??

The Dinan Monoball Kit replaces the stock rubber bushings in the rear trailing arms with racing-quality spherical bearings and precision machined aluminum housings, improving response by eliminating the deflection associated with the stock bushings. The bearings are Teflon-lined for and offer superior load capacity to the other tuner's products.

Also I wonder how many monoballs do we actually get? Just a pair of 8, or is 7 included as well??

When I looked (longingly) at them before, they were for the FRONT axle. Methinks it's a typo.

Even Steve's video argues that to settle the rear end you need the adjustable camber links. What's interesting about the rear camber links is that both ends of the curved factory link are actually ball joints, not bushings. Must be a lot of force at work if they bend...

So Radiation Joe has them in the FRONT?

About the toe links, Dinan's adjustable ones are definitely easy to use when you set up your car, but less deflection? I call marketing BS.

This is way too funny. Sometimes it makes you wonder about the quality of the products if they cannot even get a web site right.

Here's a pictures of the M3 front tension rod. The picture on Dinan's web site doesn't seem to resemble the shape of the stock bushing at all...

When they say rear trailing arms they're talking about the rear lower on the front suspension... as there are two lower link arms on each side of the front suspension...

The monoballs were originally designed for the rear trailing arms on e46 cars. Then Dinan discovered that they cured several problems in the front ends of the e60s. Now they sell them for the tension rods in the front suspension of the e9x cars.

Looks like Dinan just redesigned their website. They pulled the wrong description for the e9x monoballs.

do the tms front lower control arm bushings do the same thing as the dinan monoball kit? Just wondering because such a huge price difference. $200 vs $650.

This is the Bimmerworld version, it's a bit more cost effective.

http://store.bimmerworld.com/bimmerw...kit-p1860.aspx

Same thing (for the front). I've had this for at least 25,000 miles now and multiple track events. No issues, no problems and doesn't need any maintenance.
