Question BMW Gurus: How To Do This Feature ?

i was told in europe when you are parked, you have to keep outside taillights on due to small spots.

now i was told, and im not sure if possible, but there is a trick with the turn signal stalk to get your outer tail lights to stay on like europe.

any gurus shine some light on this?

Euro spec cars here have whats called a rear "fog light"....US spec M3 have this feature...but you have to activate it using the "rear fog light" mod....search here on the forum and you can find out how to get it done.

After you park and shut off your car, hit the turn signal stalk the way you want the light to stay on.

Once the engine is shut down, hold the turn signal stalk up or down (depending on which side you want to light up) beyond the pressure point for a few seconds, then let it go. When you open the drivers door, you will see a warning in the cluster about parking light being on. Et voilą .

This feature is also functional on Canadian spec cars, I do use it when parking in dark areas. I don't know if it works on us spec cars .

Worked that way on my US spec E46. Wouldn't expect any different on the E9x.

It's a great feature if you're the first or last in a line of cars on a dark street. I use it quite often in my old neighborhood.

BMW's have had this feature for years! I've probably used it once or twice in 20+ years.
