Well, we are spending family time by doing a puzzle, and talking about the role Germany played in our independence and civil war.

You know you're in deep shit when you have to run out to take out the trash just to hide a quick Wikipedia search since your ego can't take an other "mom this is basic history, how on earth do you not know this all!?" rant.

So if you ever have kids, my advice is to steer them strongly towards subjects where you're an expert. And for the love of god, do not let them learn how to read.

Oh god, you're so lucky. Last year at this day I took my kids to a spin and taught them how to drive more in Peter. This year I got the santa saying I'm a bad mom if I don't buy a car soon (our santa was my former neighbor, a dad of a family friend who is a cop who busted me for mild speeding and donuts two weeks before moving to the states).

I remembered today, that I had bought zero presents, but since I didn't do my usual 20 courses dinner (11 was enough) I got it sorted. So what if I was low on ideas? In December it is common in finland to get swimming goggles and the things you put in your feet. The high demand for those items at this time got them for me for 80% off too, so clearly I was on the mark!

They got skees, sledges, snowboards, ringing lessons and 27% of a horse. So many toys and books such as "Hitler's years". My dog never left the santas lap.

As for alcohol, I got none. Then. Now I'm working through a few nice presents!

How are you dealing with this all?

(btw, I am not making fun of Christians, I'm making fun of us making this so damn bad for parents)
Hiding out at the movies then hiding out at Starbucks!! (The movie serves alcohol!!)
Hiding out at home right now and then dinner is hiding out at Ruth's Chris.

LOL, Wiki is pretty much the best thing ever though. The fact we can look smart by taking a short walk or a long poop depending on level of intensity in the conversation, is miraculous.

So basically teach them the proper utilization of bacon, bacon cooking methods, motorcycles, cars, hockey, machinery, and how to distinguish real prostitutes from cops on Craigslist?

Yeah, my kids would not contribute much to society. Ill stick with goats.

No kids. Lotsa cats. They preclude Christmas decorations, so aside from one or two changes, the house looks as it always does. Wifey and I don't exchange gifts and we have no family in the area, so it's pretty much just a quiet day off with nowhere to go. Every once in a blue moon we travel, but we're always sorry for it later. Best just to stay home. We are having a nice dinner, so that's something.
Wow. You and yours are just like me and mine. Except, I have one dog and cat.

Yeah Anna I see , I cooked the whole night my Christmas ass off wile I was numbed from champagne and wine I still got an applause from my 5 invitees for my drunk cook skilzz..
*The jingle bells* went out here around 5:30 AM (not sure) Woke up 2PM and I was in the need for 1 liter of strong Jacqmotte coffee and enjoy the silence !
My fingers are trembling while I type this words from the overdose of caffeine..:Guess it's part of Christmas as well ! D

My Philippe Christmas menu was like...

Toast with Champage .
Chilled salmon cocktail .
Asparagus cream soup .
Rosbeef with potato croquettes and fine vegetables .
Mocha Christmas cake .
Coffee with Belgian chocolates .
Belgian beers for the digestion and talking BS .

After the whole shit I got this from my invitees and actually I appreciate it =>

You?
That's never a bad plan, I drove across USA a few times just to do that.

I'm doing a puzzle. Considering it's been 6 hours and I'm nearly 40% done I'd say this is the last time my ego kills my common sense for a while.

Most of the pieces are black/ almost black. Of course I set it on a glass table that's lid underneath, so this is extra fun! So yeah, even you win.

It sounded really good. I'm impressed, since cooking is my favorite hobby. I run a bad diet, I eat one big meal per day, and the other three are basically vegetables. For Christmas I usually do the salmon dish, caviar, and a carb/ lobster starters, then I just pile up the main courses to the table since for meats I usually serve turkey, the back leg of a pig (ham)) lamb and then the side dishes and sauces and salads and well, people don't leave my house hungry. This year I went with horse meat and a turkey, moose meatballs.

In the USA I once pealed 45kgs of potatoes to get my favorite side dish right, since you need certain type of potatoes as ingredients for it. Then after five hit and misses i got it ready. I've been telling that story for two years now as a great example of how fucked up I am in the kitchen. This year I best my record by miles though.

Apparently the only potato I accept to the dish had a disastrous season. Potatoes are, even that kind dirt cheap always. Funny how the price goes up 10x when us hard core mofos attack one vendor who has those. Since I made the dish to a halfway house too, I fucking spent 300 bucks on potatoes.

That's dedication man, especially since I had to peal them all, all 45kgs on my own.

And I forgot to buy milk because of this, so my kids are pissed.

Thank you Anna ,I'm sure you cook really good as well .
But you know what ?

I have the same problem with potatoes over here in Belgium (no joke)
Mostly I love the Nicolas potatoes and so I buy them again in the same store with the same packing..
Guess what ? They taste too bad to feed pigs...
So I buy other potatoes in another store and receive the same shit !
As for potatoes, Belgians or others...Yeah I give up !

Yeah, what the fuck is going on with that? What the hell happened to quality potatoes? Is this some evil Russian plan to drive us all insane before they run us down? Maybe a study has shown that the carbs in the specific sort of potatoes give people extra energy to bitch about tax politics and they've secretly banned production?

My dad loved growing vegetables. I think I got spoiled with his products over the years since I can't find any sort of quality products in that food group these days!

There's probably a good reason that Chili doesnt frequently make it onto the xmas dinner menu.......its probably not a good idea to mix with egg nog........can you just IMAGINE the noxious outgassing that would result?

OMG!!!!!

Several posters here live in nations that would rush to pass legislation to ban this combination under penalty of law for crimes against the environment....the outgassing might even be visible from orbit

It would look like this......
