Secondary Air Pump "delete" on our cars?

Is this possible? I've seen many other BMW owners successfully delete the HARDWARE (pump, valves, hoses) by using a plate cover.

However, I've not seen such a thing on the e92 M3.

I realize the ECU issue would need to be handled via tune or simulator but was curious about the hardware.

Does anyone have any experience on this?

Look at the M3 GT4 Motorsports catalog. I believe this is an item.

Just out of curiosity, why are you removing it?

You'll want to block off the air valves too and I doubt you'll ever get rid of the airflow sensor code, related to #11

I don't think anyone's does. As far as I know it's the same as it always has been- keeps the monitor pending. Even on my last M3 with SAP delete tune, it never went into ready mode. Most states will pass OBD2 with one monitor not ready. It would be a problem if you're also tuned for cat delete- that would be a second monitor not-ready which would result in a fail.

How about resistor to the wiring harness to trick the ecu that a pump is present and have the tuner make that monitor ready/pass all the time.

Don't know how it's done for BMW but my other car is like that and no issues

yeah... that's likely. I will always have one off due to HFCs so I can't get a second one

I remember the SAP on the E46M was a gigantic POS which actually weighed a fair amount

Still doesn't solve the code the air flow sensor is going to throw.

Will do. Still haven't yet because I'm trying to figure out how to tune it out. I have a message out to Mike B. (he replied with phone), but haven't contacted him yet. I'm actually waiting on Evolve tuning to reply to my emails (I have an evolve tune) and per another member on the board Evolve was able to remove as well. However, I'm not having ANY luck at all getting a reply from them.

We've had customers use a block off plate with success, but most just have us tune it out and leave the hardware in tact.

Who were you going to source the parts from? Classic (our only MS dealer in TX) will not sell to anyone without an SCCA license or proof that the parts will not be installed onto a street driven car.

Looking to do this very same mod. My internet scouring had me come across this block off plate supplier in Germany.

I'm going to do this. I'm looking forward to quieter startups. Saving a little weight is just a bonus.

The GT4 catalog indicates that there are two dummy plugs (part # 8298015) required. That seems odd since there's only one hose that connects to the intake. Any thoughts?

dragging up an old thread here....

FWIW, I did this on my Z4MC.
The blanking plate was an OE E36 part number, I'm going to check dimensions on the E92 to see if they are the same.

I had the SAP coded out in the ECU tune, but you get conditional readiness with one item (SAP) not ready.
If you are already CATless its not a big deal to e-install SAP & load the old tune for the test.

Looking to shave any weight possible from the front end, I will likely do the SAP on the M3 as well.

Has anyone weighed the SAP system?
I will weigh it when I get to it, just curious if it has been done.
Besides the BMS filters, theres not much to remove up front.
(did the A/C on the Z4MC.... not going there this time )
