Did anyone ever transport their car out there and back?
I just can't do 4 days of driving to get there and back.

You could sightsee. Austin has a lot of cool places and maybe sightsee on the way back to California? Im thinking about doing a road trip to California in August. Would love to check out the tracks there.

Definitely plan on doing that. We drove Friday and Sunday at Oktoberfest and drove around Carmel Sat. The track was pretty empty Sunday. We'd likely do the same if we could get a transport to deliver the cars a day or two early and then drive them back Monday.

I looked online and it looks like it's around $2,800 enclosed round trip for 4 cars. That might just be doable for a bucket list item.

I really wanted to go to this event but am moving the weekend after so decided not to. I'll be there in November though and have some big changes planned for my car between now and then, can't wait!

Anyone wanna share a garage in November? I won't be able to go in May as I'm running in my first race with WRL at TWS.

GL, I just did my first race with WRL at MSR-H. Had a blast! Wish I could do the TWS race, but I have another commitment that weekend.

I will be at COTA in Nov. but not sure I will pony up for a garage.

Did anyone attend Austin Schnellfest last weekend? I wanted to sign up, but could only get out for 1 day due to other commitments. Sign up was 2 day min so decided not to.

I did drive past on Saturday just to check out the scene. Looking at the run groups, it looked crowded as hell. A lot more cars on track than TX Trifeca events. I wanted to sign up for the Nov event, but would like feedback from anyone on the forum who attended this event before I do so. Did it fee crowded out there? From what I saw there was a lot of traffic and hold ups. I normally run the intermediate group if that makes any difference.

Thanks.

I've heard that COTA's prices have increased. But even if prices were the same...it's just simple math...they're putting more cars in the run groups with the DE org charging the lower prices to the drivers. I feel bad for those organizers because they're in a tough spot.

I'm willing to be those run groups were packed.

Unfortunately, COTA is bucket list oriented. Not HPDE. While you could get some good fun driving in even with packed run groups...probably going to be a rare thing if it ever happens at COTA.

Once, I drove 3.1mi course at Cresson with 40 cars. It was freakin' AWESOME! Everyone played nice and traffic was super smooth.

We used to have small fields at club races. So NASA was the host org and decided to split start their American Iron (Mustang/Camero/etc full race cars) with BMW CCA Club Racing. Something happened and the field swelled. We had 60 cars on Buttonwillow with full back straight and then using the sweeper instead of star mazda. Ho-lee-sheeet! Mayhem ensued (but no contact). I got passed by a mustang and then a camero through the esses (I was running an '87 325iS in K-stock at the time). They just went on the dirt to get around! Crazy fun but mentally all-encompassing.

Austin Schnell Fest - November 17-19, 2017
http://austinschnellfest.clubregistration.net/

Looks like $945 for 3 days, not bad. Last November was a blast and I plan to be there again this year.
