Seems like it might want some front toe out? Seems pushy low-speed? Maybe it's just the tradeoff for that giant rear tire
also stahp making me want that cae shifter

Went to Auto Club Speedway today with Speed District. They had a nice car show event going out there in addition to the track day. Tons of super modded street bling M cars in the car show. It's cool to see all the passion in the modding.
Anyway, I had a better result than expected. I bested my time from back in June by 1.4 seconds. Also, I hit a new personal best for GPS top speed - 158MPH. That's the fastest I've ever been in this car. (You can see it in the video in the second lap.) 2009 E90 M3 Track/course: Auto Club Speedway Best Lap Time: 1:43.51 (transponder) Brakes: AP Racing - Cobalt Friction XR2 front/XR3 rear Tires: Pirelli Slicks Suspension: JRZ RS Pro Other mods: VF620, RD Sport front sway bar, car is gutted with full roll cage, APR 67" GT-250 wing, carbon lip, APR front splitter, AJ Hartmann Canards, Akrapovic X-Pipe, exhaust: straight through with resonators, do88 DCT cooler, Recaro Pro Racer halo seat, DSC-off Here's the video with data: |

I feel like I've had less double upshifts since that big round of maintenance (although they do happen occasionally). Interestingly, my friend in his ESS supercharged M3 had a double upshift yesterday at ACS. That was the first time I've ever heard him say he's experienced that.......interesting. Anyway, I'm glad the do88 DCT cooler is in there. It definitely does better than the stock unit. I've disconnected the DCT temp gauges after I had that leak, so I'm not monitoring the temps anymore. I just go and drive it. (From what I can tell from looking at the DCT temp gauges for several months, the oil and water get critically hot faster than the DCT, so I just drive with the oil temps in mind and the DCT is generally fine.) |

Went to Chuckwalla (CW) with PCA San Diego this weekend. Nice weekend. Got into the low 90's on Sunday though....c'mon man....I'm done with the heat!!! Let's see some cooler days!
On this trip, I feel like I sorted out more things about the track. I was able to do a track walk on Friday when dropping off my trailer. Man, I just love track walks. Turn 6/7 has always been a sore spot for me. I stood on the track and just stared at it for awhile. When driving, I approached that 6/7 turn differently, and it really paid off. Anyway, my time was a new personal best and it was good enough to be fastest lap of the weekend. 2009 E90 M3 Track/course: Chuckwalla CW Best Lap Time: 1:53.81 (transponder) Brakes: AP Racing - Cobalt Friction XR2 front/XR3 rear Tires: Pirelli Slicks Suspension: JRZ RS Pro Other mods: VF620, RD Sport front sway bar, car is gutted with full roll cage, APR 67" GT-250 wing, carbon lip, APR front splitter, AJ Hartmann Canards, Akrapovic X-Pipe, exhaust: straight through with resonators, do88 DCT cooler, Recaro Pro Racer halo seat, DSC-off One other note: PCA has a new national rule now----no open passing. Even the Advanced group requires a point-by at all times. That was---ummm---interesting. |

dogbone, does that do88 DCT cooler make a difference with your SCer in 90F+ heat?

I posted about it on my build thread: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showpos...&postcount=378 What I'm finding now with the do88 Cooler in place: when I'm pushing super hard in 90ºF+ heat with grippy tires, the engine oil heats up so quickly that the transmission heating up is a secondary consideration to the engine oil. You only get a couple laps and the transmission can make it through that. That 1:53 pace at Chuckwalla in 90 temps is pretty tough on the car. Two laps of that and you're done. However, at 84ºF, I was on some slower tires and was able to do 4 consecutive laps at 1:59 (plus warm up and cool down) in a session without transmission issues. The engine oil got up to 277º according to the AIM. I've mentioned before that due to some leaking issues with the temp gauge, I'm no longer tracking the DCT temps. It's been a non-issue to the point that I don't feel the need to keep a super close eye on those temps. I still have OEM dash gauges. (I don't have an Idrive screen anymore.) I believe I've only seen the orange "gear" icon on the dash once this year. And the car hasn't defensively shifted into 7th gear and stayed there ignoring my shift requests in a very long time. |
