ess 625 m3

I just installed my 625 kit and currently doing the break in driving. What would normal operating temps range if driving with normal shift around 3 to 5k? I am in Atlanta and temps are mid 80 degree.

I already posted that I noticed a slight increase in oil temp when BMW went from Castrol to this new Shell oil.

Just remember the heat exchanger blocks the oil cooler so in my opinion the oil gets hot quicker and at a higher temp than normal.

Almost never see mine go past 220, and when I do its when im stuck in traffic in 90+ heat. At speed in the same heat keepin it over 5k RPM down back roads she stays right on the 220 mark.

My car stays around 210, don't really notice a difference from when it was stock. Especially if your not pushing it as your saying.

Mine hardly ever goes pass the 220 mark when it does is because I'm sitting in traffic, once I'm moving it drops bellow 220.. Just installed mine less than a week ago

Ok mine sits around the 210 mark as well maybe a slight tick over for most part right on though. Just wondering since before this kit and this new old I would sit well below 210 like 200 or 195

before my install i would typically stay a few mm below the 210 center mark. now it seems to run there in the center or 3-5mm past the center mark. especially in traffic like others have mentioned. i'm in the south and temp have only risen to mid 80s. i'm worried about the 90-110 temps in rush hour traffic.

Just because the HE sits in front doesn't mean it's going to prevent the oil cooler from doing its job. The oil cooler tstat targets a 210deg oil temp I do believe. Adding a bit of air restriction isn't going to suddenly prevent that from working.

Ive seen 5-6 Vortech based kits that run 220-230 on normal basis, and 2 Evolve kits and 2 AA kits that run 205-210. Take it for what its worth, just my observation

Do you guys ever watch Intake Air Temps?

Before the supercharger, IAT was usually near ambient temp.

With the 625, IAT's are typically about 20-30F hotter than ambient for me. The hotter the ambient, the larger the delta

Yes, I think nearly everyone watches iats. And yes about 25 degrees F above ambient is pretty common.

20-25 above ambient is common when running a supercharger.

210-220 oil temps are common with stock cooling. We see about a 15% decrease in temps with our oil cooler and quicker recovery times. AIT's as others have said are 20-30 deg average over ambient depending on the kit.

Alek, how much capacity does your cooler add? have owner's with ESS vt2 kits had problems with the heat exchanger mounting in front of your oil cooler (is your cooler thickness affecting the exchanger mounting?).

80% larger core and an additional oil capacity of 2qts.

They also have test fitted on VT2 ESS cars with no issue.

thank you for the information. i don't track my car but this seems to be a nice part to keep oil temps at or below 210.

+2 quarts is added to the system. We have installed several coolers with ESS kits and they fit correctly. We did engineer the cooler around fitting with the ESS kit as it is the supercharger system we recommend for our customers.
