European Air Box

I Was Searching Web Sites For Air Filters,and On Macht Schnell's Site,it Has A Note That Says:us 2010 Models Will Now Use The European Airbox And Will Require The Eu Filter Adapter To Be Installed.does Anyone Know About This,and How Does It Differ From My 2009 E-92 M3 Coupe?

US 2010 airbox has the same air filter as the european cars. 2008-2009 US cars had a different air filter.

I suggest you get the european BMC filter instead of the Macht Schnell one because you need an adaptor while the BMC filter does not. Less parts, less headaches in the future. Plus you don't have to pay for the extension adaptor thing.

Due to the mid production change, all US 2010+ models simply need the euro adapter as seen here: http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...oducts_id=2369

2008-2009 do not require the adapter.

Do the '10's need the filter since the stock euro filter has no carbon layer? Other than the reuseable concept I guess...

I have the Macht Schnell with the Euro adapter on my US 2010 MY and it works great. Install was easy as 1-2-3

Better to have one made for the car than a work around.

K&N doesn't offer a filter for the S65.

This is irrelevant. The euro adapter has zero affect on filtering abilities, which is what's important.

It's not a different airbox, only the mounting pin has a different length since a different filter (paper) is used.

Wouldn't understand why anyone wouldn't prefer an air filter specifically made for the car than paying extra for one with an adapter. But I guess since you're trying to sell them ....

Not really, I just don't 100% agree with this view. By this we shouldn't have the following:

- Wheel Spacers
- Stud Conversions
- Big Brake Kits (since caliper relocation brackets are often used)

Not trying to argue, just making points.

I find it best to no add wheel spacers and buy wheels with the right offset for the car. Many people also complain of vibrations with the big break kits (Not to say that this is true for all of them but the number of people that get these vibrations is not small either).

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FILTERS?????

Here's a change that just makes no sense except to universally use one filter... I suppose.

My BMC EU filter ( no adapter needed ) is on the way. I will make pictures when it arrives and I'll install it next week.
