Racing plugs
Anyone with experience or thoughts on NGK racing plugs for our S65. I wonder how it'll affect most of our ecu tunes. Wonder if they are only beneficial for the FI setups.

Also curious, the stock plugs are an 8 heat range which is already a cold ass plug.

If they are the copper NGKs, they do not last as long. Could be as little as several thousand miles before the gap opens a bit. Eventually, you may get misfires. Having changed the plugs on my S65, I can say it is not a job I would like to do every few thousand miles. I do run NGK copper racing plugs on my turbo 99M3. Plugs won't make any power unless the ones you have are deficient in some way. If you are misfiring or detonating, you are probably getting codes that would give you some idea.

Doesn't the HKS lose the ability for misfire and knock detection with the ion sensing system? Those are two very big things to lose, especially on a FI car.

Supercharged cars normally have misfire detection turned off because the boost will throw the car into limp mode with it enabled.

+1 Correct Mike. Sort of a waste fire setup going on there. Second fire is sensed through the coils. Right after ignition the coils run 400 volts through the plugs and take readings from that. Plugs and coils will be a "maintenance" item on the M3.
