I have the Fab Speed with HFC and Eisenmann Race and there is no rasp, only loud aggression with hints of rawness and overtones of war!!!

You have to bang the heat shields in for them to fit without vibrating the inside of the car. I also had a problem with the drivers side cat hitting (over speed bumps) with multiple people in the car.. Switched to the akra from that setup. They are polar opposites. The fabspeed makes it more high pitched and raspy, and the akra is much deeper sounding. The quality and fitment on the Akra is the best I've been. It's a piece of art. But it does carry a premium price tag making many of the other systems more viable. I also am a big fan of the Dinan X-pipe exhaust setups.

I love the aggressive Gintani sound but it will have drone. If you don't want drone then Gintani is probably not the best for your application.

To reiterate what Mike said. I would avoid the Fabspeed cat placement route. You will literally destroy the cats from flat spotting them.

Go with cats in the secondary position or go with a set of test pipes.

BTW Mikey, hello from the land of the rising sun...(Japan)

Among those four options, I don't think drone or rasp will be an issue when paired with the stock muffler.

Out of those four, my preference would lean towards the ESS Tuning.

I personally chose the Evolve Automotive XPipe since it comes with the highest quality cats in the industry based upon my own research. No drone or rasp. Does sound a bit more visceral and sporty. I got big power from it. Perfect fitment, no rattles, rubbings, nor vibrations.

My review: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=891096

Otherwise, like what Dave07997s said, I'd recommend getting Test Pipes.

Thank you all for your input. Fabspeed out. ESS or Akrapovic top of list. Can I start with Akrapovic X pipe (front section) connected to stock rear section.

I believe you need adaptors for the Akrapovic to fit the stock OE connecting pipes.

I would love to do a complete Akra But $$$$. It seams that people start with the back section than go to the front X pipe when building Akra systems. I would like to start with X pipe (the front). From what I read all others ESS, Challenge, Gintani work with stock back section. But Akra will not ??

Stay away from fabspeed….. A lot of their stuff is raspy and drones. Porsche guys got the same issues with their product too.

Keep your resonators. Sound is subjective… pick a muffler that you like. Me personally I like the deep sound. Dinan, Akra, BMW gts exhaust, Remus Race.

ESS, Challenge, Gintani, Evolve, Mastermind, Dinan, and quite few other popular brand do fit with stock muffler.

Akrapovic with the correct adaptor will also fit the stock muffler. Seen here: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showpos...&postcount=167

If I were you I'd search the For Sale subforums and pick up and entire Akra system (catted x plus slip). You can get them for about $4K in total. Just do that and be done. It is the perfect balance if you do not want to go too loud...which makes sense on an e93. And no rasp/drone...but it has some deep bass at lower RPMs which sounds nice.

Oh, and Akra is titanium so you'll lose at least 50 pounds of weight, and this system is proven to make as much, if not more power than the other systems.

So many people buy the Akra; and so many of them are disappointed. Every single person I know in Australia who purchased one has offloaded it.

The best around that I've heard would be valved Gintani. A fellow member who has had about 7-8 exhausts and swears they are the best too with no drone

for you guys that said, connect anything to the stock rear is silly, thats the big, heavy, ugly as hell piece of junk you want to get rid of and is the main reason to get aftermarket exhaust. Com on Mann.

I'm thinking starting with the X pipe. (ESS or Akrapovic) Getting rid of the primary and secondary cats for HFCats, has greater benefit than changing the back section.

Then get the Evolve xpipe, this is what I did. Deletes primary cats and uses high flow secondaries that are extremely high quality. Pair it with their stage 2 tune and you wont be disappointed. As Flip said, go to his review and you will quickly find out why I went with this setup.
