I'm getting 241E flashed as we speak. Super excited!
Edit: More details I had engine software update, GTS DCT and coding done. Alex is a great guy to work with. Very professional and knowledgeable. I will be coming back to Alex for future coding for sure. Highly recommended! My quick impression of the new 241E. Yes, it's not a typo. 241E was just released a few days ago. I installed the Japanese version. My original software was quite old, the 220E. I never had 240E, so my comparison is 220E vs 240E. The car is significantly smoother. I have catless x pipe and axle back exhaust. With the old software I occasionally had rough idle, where the RPM would drop then bounce back. With 241E, that bad behavior is gone. The car seems to have more torque in low RPMs. Also the exhaust volume reduced just a tad. It sounds a little more refined to me. I drove back home in LA bad stop-n-go traffic, opening up the car whenever conditions permitted. I still made 17.6mpg. This is definitely an improvement over the old software that made 16.4 mpg in the long run. I had Alex enable realtime mpg, since I always found the default long term average a bit lacking. I prefer to see instant data. WOT is 6 mpg. lol. But it's good to know. Overall I love the new DEM software. The car is running great. Thanks Alex! Alex installed my mdm retrofit. Highly recommended and he knows his shit. Just on the off chance, he might recommend you to see a doctor for talking too much and asking questions

Finished a marathon 2 hour remote coding session with Alex earlier today (am I the longest remote coding session, Alex?). It normally doesn't take this long, but we were having technical issues (all entirely because of my equipment) and it took 2 hours to perform the GTS DCT flash and coding. The coding itself took only a short period of time.
Thanks to Alex and his limitless patience (just don't go into the 'hangry' time zone lol) throughout the process. While it was eye opening watching Alex pit his Jedi coding skills against a very persistent antivirus software (he'd stop and kill the AV process just as it was starting up so it didn't mess with the USB/internet), I highly DO NOT recommend doing the coding on an office laptop with McAfee Enterprise Security installed. Lesson learnt. What was most impressive - and re-assuring - was the confidence Alex had in his skills and also the fail-safes he'd built into his tried and tested process. At some points, the laptop dropped internet/USB during the DCT flash (damn McAfee!), and the thought of possibly bricking my transmission ECU crossed my mind. Alex had designed fail safes for these very situations and the software kept trying and re-trying the flash until it was completed, and he was confident throughout the process. Phew! Impressions on the GTS DCT flash - Gear changes feel more refined. They're noticeably quicker, yet faster at the same time. Shifting at WOT in S4 gives you that exciting kick in the seat that wasn't there before. I opted for the 110ms shift times to be on the safe side, though Alex says it can go as low as 100ms. The car doesn't feel rough or strained at 110ms. In hindsight, I should have gone for 100ms, but I'm not complaining. If DCT was a refined version of SMG, then this GTS flash is a refined version of DCT. And at the prices Alex charges, it's an outright steal! Thanks again Alex for the great work and patience! |
