Someone did install a V1 remote in the same area. But it didn't have the smoked plexiglass -- it just sat flush with the faceplate. Use the feature to find the post.

Cheers.

I haven't done this with a V1 yet. And I havent seen the post that Ersin mentioned, but there should be plenty of clearance for the V1 remote. Although, from an aesthetic standpoint, I think the proportions would be wrong if it were simply flushed in. I suppose my lens template could be made to work with a V1 display.

The V1 remote display is little larger than the Escort's. But it will fit. There is a slight curvature to it whereas the Escort's is flat, but the V1 will still fit flush if you separate the front of the unit from the back. I'll see if I can't find the post I referenced and get back.

Having said this, putting the V1 behind plexiglass would give that extra nice touch. This would be a kickass install, except for the fact that IMO it's not an ideal location for the display.

Cheers.

Very nice! I live in the area and may be interested in the next few months. Looks like you display install location would not work if you have seat heater buttons down there?

It looks like there's enough room to fit the display and controls in between the heater buttons. I hope you don't have the rear sunshade though.

Cheers.

There's room in the panel, but there is a switch module back there.

Yeah that's what I want to know..those of us down south are left out or back east! You guys on the west coast get to have ALL the good stuff.

Very clean install...very interested if I and my car were on that end!

We work with shops around the country for audio packages. But not so much for radar installs. We do a great deal of radar installs here locally (just finished a 2011 F10 550i, pics soon), and are well-renowned for doing some of the cleanest custom radar installs on the west coast, but they are extremely labor intensive.

I'm working on a 9500ci package that I'll be able to ship for e9x cars that will include the plexi panel, disconnects on the display and controller wiring (to retain serviceability), and the fog light power button mod. Ideally, you'll be able to take this package into your local shop for install, or even do it yourself (moderate to high level of difficulty for DIY).

Very nice install.

Sounds very interesting. You'll post pics when the kit is ready? Thanks.

Cheers.

Since you plan on taking up the ash try anyways, why not just relocate the button panel to that location and go with our bezel?

I'm curious what local shops could "easily" do this? I'd love to see some pics if they do.

Easy is a relative term.

Excellent choice. The display unit is the same as the Escort and should still work with the install kit here. You can use the blue or red display too. Ask Bel about it.

Cheers.

Installs are always easy right up until your car rolls into their install bay...

What I've seen of Musicarnw's installs make me believe that "easy" isn't really all that easy to most installers.

Again, quality work. Already thinking of all the things I can do when I get my 2011 E90 M3 sedan back from Euro delivery.
