Canada Winter Tires: Any Suggestions?

Thinking about getting winter tires for my BMW 328i (XDrive). Was thinking of going through the dealership, but people are telling me they'll rape me! LOL

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas...
So far I have a quote for $1960 + taxes for a set of Pirelli Sotto Zero 240 tires (17").

Any other suggestions?????

Bridgestone WS60/70.

Who the hell gave you a quote for that much? WTF LOL.

Not a single set costs over $900. Just get the WS70's if you get a lot of icy roads, if it's just snow that blows over and you're left with dry roads then get the Michelin Pilot Alpin PA3's (but then again I ran those on my xDrive with the crazy ice we get over here and they were excellent).

Stay away from Pirelli for winter tires, not just cos of the price you got quoted but in general experience.

/thread.

I think you might get more replies in the non-M e90/e92 section??

For what it's worth, had researched for my 335i, and went with Blizzak LM-25 (17 inches, RFT). I had read they were among the top-rated.

Is this for a set of BMW OEM alloys + tires? (their 'pre-packaged' deal?) Is this for a new set? If so, that sounds like a great deal. But if that's just for the tires, hell no.

About 2-3? weeks ago, more people were selling their winter sets and you could have got a used set for a lot less. But the silver lining is, you are not waiting for only what is being offered, and you can pick the alloys and tires you want... (p.s. I didn't go for what BMW was offering as part of the winter package deal, I picked different set of OEM alloys... and tires as well...)

WS70 are my vote as well based on my experience with Blizzaks and BMWs.

However I am currently running Pirelli Sottozero's and they have really good dry performance and OK grip in snow. Stiffer than Blizzak's but not as grippy in snow basically.

I have tried most of the major brands of winter tires now.

Anyway.. DO NOT ORDER FROM DEALERSHIP.
Tirerack or pricematch with Tirerack. End of story.
