Question for you e92 owners about back seat access.

I really love the looks of the e92 over the e90 but my current toy is a two door and I HATE getting people in the back seat. The electric motors take far to long.

How is back seat access in the e92? Do the seats move by power and if so are they quick? I assume there is a memory when putting them back. Is it easy for an adult to climb back there, and can they fit comfortably?

While there are seats in the rear, adults won't be very comfortable back there. They are fairly easy to get into since the seat back tilts back quickly.

The seats are motorized but there are special switches that move them pretty fast. Maybe 10 seconds for full travel. They of course flip forward as well (manually and quickly). I find the backto be fairly usable for adults on shortish trips. I'm 6'6" too so I have to move my seat forward a bit but still ok. I guess it depends how often you have more than one passenger.

99% of the time it's just me but my 5 year old does like to ride in the fun cars and every now and then we go on weekend road trips with friends and it would be nice to not take 5 minutes just getting in the car.

I find my E92 back seats far more comfortable than the E90. I've also had 4 adults in the car and no complaints. My wife rode in the back for 6 hours on a trip to Socal and she said it was more comfortable than when we did the same trip in her E90. The only "issue" is if you have to get people in and out of the back seats constantly.

I guess it comes down to how big the passengers in the car are.

Yup. But that seems to be an issue in the E90 as well. I barely have leg room in the back of an E90 when the driver/pass is tall.

Getting in an out kinda sucks but the back seats aren't that bad once you're seated.

Get manual seats. The pull forward very quickly to allow back seat access. However, I sat in the back of my car recently while clearing it and it was not easy getting back out!

The power seats are a little slow IMHO, but I've found that even with the front seats back far enough to be comfortable for taller passengers upfront (5' 10" with legroom to spare), people can get into the back seat without moving the front seat forward at all. Now older adults like my parents have had trouble getting back there without moving the seats, but they had some trouble getting in and out of the back even after moving the seats too, and even sometimes getting in and out of the fronts, so it's all relative.

As for comfort back there, I've never had a problem riding in the back of other E92s. Taller people have to slouch a tiny bit because of the roof, but it's not bad at all even on extended trips, and while you can't stretch your legs out, there's enough room to move your legs around a bit and prevent your knees from hitting the front seats; just don't plan to stash a bunch of stuff in the footwells back there as well.

I've had a few people tell me that the rear seats in my e92 are actually pretty comfortable and they have more than enough room. Getting in and out isn't that bad, as others have pointed it. I wouldn't let that factor determine the body style you purchase.

I'm 6'5 so generally no one sits behind me, they have to sit on the other side in the back seat in most cars other than the GTO.

Arthur - I have two other coupes that are quite a bit smaller and since I am 6'6" those are strictly 3 seaters (at best) if I am in the front seat. But I find that with the E92, I'm able to use it as a genuine 4 seater if I move my seat forward an inch or two from optimal - which is still perfectly fine for the shorter trips. So you would likely be OK with it at your height.

I consider it my practical car - but obviously, it is no 7 series.

Also, I'm a young guy with no kids so most of the people who ride with me are in their 20s or early 30s - I don't have kids who need car seats or elderly passengers.

My son is over 6 feet tall and enjoys sitting in the back seat. He's says it very comfortable. He prefers sitting in the back of my coupe over sitting in our four door cars.

Power seat IMHO is slow. Older folks will have a problem going in/out. Seat is comfortable enough.

we find it surprisingly not too bad back there. we have taken our son (18) on long weekend trips and he had no complaints back there. if you don't have to get in and out every few minutes it is reasonably comfy.

If you use the right button (at the top of the seat back) it moves forward fast enough for it not to be a pain, and it will return to the preset position if you press and hold the button in the reverse direction.

If you use the wrong button (the forward/backward adjustment on the seat base) it does take a while, and will not go back to the preset position.

Don't fear the e90! If you regularly have adults (or anyone for that matter) in the back, the e90 is much better. I had an e92 before and while it was adequate, the e90 is great, and you can fit three in a pinch.

I have three kids, one still in a car seat and the middle child still needs a booster, and I've had all three in the back seat for short trips.
