It would be nice if we could buy a service manual for our cars.

e9x M3 models do not have a powered OBD port.

I have not seen the installation instructions for the PSWII yet, does it specify switched or keep-alive memory? There are only a few locations that provide constant power in this model and will not shut off when the command is given by the IBS.

Seems like the problem people are having is with keeping memory settings on the wheel.

It may require constant power for keep alive memory. If so, this can be tapped off the JBE module under the glovebox.

Instructions should state whether switched or constant power is needed. What we don't want is the wheel being not turning off when the ignition is cut.

You can check out the link to the manual in this post: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showpos...8&postcount=64

It shows a wiring diagram but doesn't tell me what each wire does. Maybe you know better than I.

Instructions state that power line is KL30, which requires constant power.

Disregard the orange/green harness w/ terminal connectors, as this is related to something else.

PIN3 on the JBE module (, left side connector, red/blue wire) will provide constant power for the PSW. PIN6 can be used for ground.

Hope this helps!

I guess the million dollar question though is whether the instructions are asking you to tap the correct wire for constant power or not?

KL30 is asking for constant power.

But is the manual having you tap into the correct wire for it?

If there are reported problems with the original installation, this would be the alternative. This was present also on the Gen 1 PSWs.

Seems like the instructions are request power from the CAS, which would also have constant power. Either option is fine, the JBE module is simply easier to access.

What was present? A memory issue?

So in your observations, this has been an issue yet the instructions and the way you are suggesting are the same? If this is true, what is the solution?

If what he's saying is true, it won't matter since he says the wires do the same thing.

The directions were pointing to power wires that simply were not present in the OBD2 connector, nor was the M3 even listed as being compatible (135/335 targeted item within performance line).

Interesting. So maybe the wires that you say to use will cure this whole ordeal.

It appears not unless you have the non-sport wheel which has been assumed to be the non-airbag version.

Just got the car back from dealer, because I can't get my wheel to memorize the setting. My Tech rerouted my power wiring from cigarette lighter to CAS Modules, and now my PSW works perfectly like it's supposed to.
And just to be clear : there's no coding needed. and like what Tom said, the PSW requires constant power to memorize all the setting.
