I think it's funny that nobody has tried to talk him off the ledge. This is an M3 enthusiasts forum. Apparently when something shinier and racier comes along, poor lil' M3 gets the no love laufpass!
Sorry Bimmer Freeeek......I'd jump all over that pretty orange car! I love them and aspire to own one! Mike, I feel your pain!

I'll double it! 2 days with my car for one night with your badge & gun, but I'll be needing your car with the flashy lights as well

I was going to say, a 911 in Screaming Orange is the absolute surest way to get arrested twice a week for the foreseeable future. They would probably put your name tag on the cell and call it reserved.

Then again, if you are in the law enforcement community, heck go for it.

It will be too brutal for DD, so factor in another $10-12k for a nice E30 with S52 conversion (you know, to keep daily driving interesting).

I figure I can get by with 8K for a decent DD sub/truck type vehicle. I would more than compensate with the GT3. MORE than compensate.

Mike - you're thinking of trading in the M already?! I suppose I can't blame you as I contemplate getting a GT3 RS all the time. It is, however, very difficult for anyone to give you sound advice since only you know your finances and what’s important to you. What I will say though is that I would suggest you wait. The Cayman R is a great car, and I hear everything you’re saying there, but it’s not a big enough jump in its overall package to warrant burning money by pre-maturely ditching the M. I would suggest you keep the M for a bit longer and wait until the 997.2’s come down in price. That’s my plan – gray black without any of the obnoxious decals.

Sound advice. It's one of those cars that screams buy me. And I HAVE to get the orange if it's available when I'm ready. I know its garish and I just don't care. Saw the Cayman again last night, and while it's technically awesome, it's not a 911.

Totally agree. I've been 100% conservative and owned only black cars my whole life. My Jerez M3 was about as far as I could bring myself to depart from my norm.

I don't much like yellow, red. But orange... orange on a GT3RS (or Gallardo) does it for me. I once saw a GT3RS on a lot that was the opposite color scheme -- black with the orange accents and wheels, and I even loved that. Orange wheels, and I'd sport it all day long. I don't get it..

Maybe it comes down to this. The car is so undeniably legit. It wears those colors because it f*cking can.
