I just got this installed and initially I was worried it was going to be TOO quiet.

However, OP has nailed everything about it. It's definitely throatier on cold-start and around-town driving definitely lets you know it's there! On the highway there's a MINIMAL amount of drone but didn't bother me at all. Up top, not that different from stock but to me that's a good thing for a DD highway miles car.

With an xpipe it will be perfect

I just installed my Megan exhaust this weekend and love the sound! I don't think it's too quiet by any means, however I personally don't care for it to be excessively loud either. Nice deep throaty vroooom, just the way a V8 should sound imo. I'm interested in the xpipe as well but would like for those who take the plunge first to please post up some good video/audio clips for everyone else!

I just installed the catback over the weekend as well. It sounds really good, has a nice deep idle, lower rpms are deeper while the higher are close to stock inside the car, but still has a really nice tone to it and a little louder. Not obnoxious at all, not too loud where you cant hold a conversation. Maybe that will change with the Xpipe!

As far as fit, finish, etc, it was perfect. Everything lined up perfectly well, nothing is crooked and it looks like what you would expect it to be like on an M3. The welds are also very good. Only complaint is it was missing some hardware, but that was easy enough as I had some nuts and bolts laying around.

Awesome exhaust, can't beat it for the price. And honestly, after getting this, I don't know why anyone would pay the outrageous price (thousands of $$) for other catbacks. I understand the R&D aspect, but it seems like this stuff is marked up for the simple reason of what the car costs. Other companies have new model vehicles that have a similar size following, and you can attain their full exhaust systems for much, much cheaper. We're paying the BMW markup.

Installed this week. Looks and sounds good, although it does not sit right. The left hangs lower and sticks out a bit more. Also, the supplied clamps did not grip the pipes well at all. I had to use regular steel clamps (which will rust). No matter how much the supplied rear clamps were tightened, the pipe would still move around.

For the price however, it is a great buy - can't have it all. Throatier down low and quiter up top as everyone else has said. This is how the car should have come stock.

you are supposed to use the oem clamps for connecting xpipe to connecting pipes and the ones that came with it for conncecting pipe to muffler. the exhaust shop i took it to has done a bunch of the same exhaust so they knew what they were doing.
But u are right...it sits a little weird...hard to notice though

how hard or easy would this be as a DIY ? I am fairly mechanical (used to work on my motorcycles). I have ramps to raise the m3.

does this come with install instructions?

i dont think it comes with instructions. but the hardest part are the clamp/ bar things by the black mesh in the diffuser. The red things. Everything else is pretty simple. I didnt install it though, so i dunno how hard it actually is.

Mine didn't come with instructions. Not too hard to install, but lining it up is a pain as is getting the hangers on and off. I would recommend doing it on a lift.

Big thanks to Jet335i for meeting up with me so I could listen to his Megan exhaust. The exhaust has an amazing, aggressive sound without being too overbearing. Megan will have a new customer.
