But then I'm the only one I've read here that had the main belt snap due to a bad pulley.

Well,
BMW is not alone anymore. ODI HAS RECEIVED 12 VEHICLE OWNER COMPLAINTS (VOQ'S) ALLEGING INCIDENTS OF LOSS OF MOTIVE POWER WHILE DRIVING DUE TO A MALFUNCTION OF THE DIRECT SHIFT GEARBOX (DSG) TRANSMISSION USED IN THE SUBJECT VEHICLES. IN MOST INCIDENTS, THE DSG MALFUNCTION EITHER SPONTANEOUSLY SELF-CORRECTED OR WAS TEMPORARILY CORRECTED AFTER THE ENGINE WAS STOPPED AND RESTARTED. THREE COMPLAINTS INDICATE THAT THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED. IN ADDITION, ODI HAS RECEIVED 15 COMPLAINTS ALLEGING SAFETY CONCERNS WITH HARSH SHIFTING EITHER DURING LOW SPEED PARKING MANEUVERS, WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP OR DURING UPSHIFTS/DOWNSHIFTS AT SPEED. A PRELIMINARY EVALUATION HAS BEEN OPENED TO ASSESS THE FREQUENCY AND SAFETY CONSEQUENCES OF THE DSG TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTIONS. Also, when I searched under BMW for an investigation related to our transmissions, I came up empty. Appears that NTHSA no longer is concerned with the DCT. I wrote in to Emily and asked what the status was with our complaint. |

"Congress only set aside about a month for the program to get up and running and picked the National Highway Transpiration Safety Administration, which specializes in road safety and vehicle recalls, to run it. The agency, known as NHTSA, had never run a program like this before. It devoted 30 employees and 200 contractors to handle the program — and they were swamped almost from the moment dealers' applications began rolling in." She got assigned to the Cash-For-Clunkers program, processing dealer submissions

I think it's normal to have flaws on a new system
but for Germans to not have fixed this by now, someone is making very poor decisions or being lazy, both are not excuses |

I agree. It's still there but is considerably better.

SI B 28 07 08 (attached) pretty much says BMW has finally acknowledged the issue, and is making available updated software to fix the issue. I'm sure in future updates they will further refine the logic... I have faith in the Germans!

Unfortunately I have less faith in BMWAG after owning a 2007 335i E93 that had the fluttering/buffeting noise that was never corrected by their trunk lid foam filling SIB. Refer to Thread: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=218612

This SIB fails to address the issue adequately. My car will exhibit the lag in any mode including S6 with DSC off.

How's this for logic... program the DCT to do what the driver wants it to do, when the driver wants it to do it?!?!?!?! The only things the DriveLogic should do are prevent from accidental over-revving, prevent stalling at a stop, and blip the throttle for rev matching upon downshifts. That's it. Why does it have to be so f*cking complicated?
