Are spacers necessary for winter setup?

I have a winter setup that I'm planning on using for the first time. (225/40/18 F with 245/40/18 R) I usually use my stock 19's setup and cross my fingers but this year i plan on doing it right. Iv seen some run this but i don't know if i would need spacers to push out the rims. I understand that taking turns will need precaution with them but are spacers necessary when running a setup like this or is it more for cosmetic purposes? And is there anything that i would need to do ie: special alignment or something else. First time with a winter setup so any advice is appreciated If spacers are need can you recommend a spacer setup as well. Thanks for any input guys.

What are the details on the 18" wheels you're mounting those tires on? Spacers will be for cosmetic purposes and you shouldn't need an alignment unless you're making suspension adjustments as well.

What is the width and offset of the winter wheels. Stock 18" E92 wheels are 8.5" width +29 offset front and 9.5" width +23 offset rear. The biggest thing you want to be sure is that the new wheels will clear the brake calipers. you only need 2mm clearance. Your best bet is to try them on. you will need spacers if they don't clear. The rest would be cosmetic.

I have an E46 M3 with a BBK and after market wheels. I use snows on the OEM wheels. The OEM fronts will not fit over the BBK so I use 10mm spacers.

If you get spacers be sure to get hub centric spacers. They are a minimum of 10 mm.

I have no idea what the offsets are but they're replica 220Ms for a 33x and i have stock suspension with stock brakes. Test fitted them and they cleared so i guess they work lol.
