Clarifying dealer approved spark change
I searched the forum and internet but its somewhat unclear. I actually don't have my manual either. I have 31k and car is due for oil change and 30k service. I wanted to see if I was ready to have dealer change plugs but some say its on the 3rd oil change and some say its at 36k miles. So unsure of which it is?

I have 38k on mine and I am bringing it next week for a SC. I asked them about changing the spark plugs as well as some other items and they told me the spark plugs are swapped at 50k :
I have no concerns about paying out of pocket as I want to ensure everything is working flawlessly before outing SC in. But like you would prefer to use the warranty to my advantage and I would assume that these should be changed at this time since I bought it 2010. Anyone else know? |

Dealer changed my plugs at 30k service, even though the manual states 37k miles. Seems to be the case with most at the 30k service.

Mine was done at 37k miles on the dot. The dealer refused to do it at 30k saying BMW wouldn't allow them to do it prior to the service requirement.

I just had the 30k miles service done on my car this past week. The eingine oil, tranny oil, rear end oil and spark plugs were changed. I talked to the tech that worked on my car and he told me that the spark plugs should be changed every 30k miles.

Mine was done at 17k Miles. They changed the plugs, rear diff fluid, brake fluid, and tranny fluid (6mt). All free, but still. 17k. Car has ran better since lol.

How do you guys get the dealer to change stuff early/outside of schedule?
I have a good relationship with my SA and Tech but it's 100% impossible for them to get any maintenance done outside of schedule. They say BMW just won't approve it. Eg: for plugs are officially done at 37k and my dealer can only do it within +/- 2k of that. |

I've seen plugs changed in between 20K-35K at dealerships - typically @ 30K.

Mine was also changed at 30k service. Runs the same. Don't really notice a difference.

I just had this same scenario as I am getting a SC installed. I have 38xxx miles and my dealer who I have bought a lot of Dinan products from charged me for the plugs...$600 for plugs and labor out of pocket.
It did not come up on my key and their system so they charged me... Kind of pissed considering how much money I spent with them and in addition to by 4k in winter wheels and tires while I the car was in there. If its in the manual can I go back and fight this and get reimbursed? |

My dealer said it was as needed regardless of the owners manual and that my car did not call for it. I am happy to be doing my own work now rather than the dealer's minimal schedule. I have also changed dealers should I need to go back for CPO work. I changed the plugs, oil, diff fluid, brake fluid, tranny fluid, power steering fluid, cabin filter and air filter. Coolant is on the list.
