What I did like about the S4 was the tranny. Shifts were more precise and the clutch is stiffer for better feel. Also thought the S4 pulled better from 3-5k RPM. Cancelled my order in the end. Figured I would own it for 6 months and then realize it is just a dressed up A4 with very little special. I had intended to go full STaSIS mods, suspension, exhaust, wheels, etc. I realized I could get a lowered car with nice wheels right from the factory with the M3. Worth pointing out though, that the S4 is about $15k cheaper, not exactly small change. But it needed $10k worth of mods right out of the dealer. Anyway, While I've already added carbon spoiler and splitters, with more stuff on the way, I wanted to avoid aftermarket suspension if possible. Coilovers and springs always have compromises - I've done them on every other car.
Just getting to the end of break in and opening the car up more. Interesting that Sport Plus opens up the exhaust note a bit. I'm going for the M exhaust, but wondering a bit if the stock exhaust makes enough music...
Ok that is my story with the S4. The 2nd week after the purchase I was doing everything possible to like the car. I was going to pay about 7k in aftermarket parts. Thank G a high performance shops in Dallas said you can spend a lot of money with us BUT YOUR S4 WILL NEVER BECOME AN M.
The reason I bought the S4 my CPO was running out and my company pays for my gas and they kept hinting that my next car should be more fuel efficient than the M5.

Few cars have so much going for them as a ZCP M3. The seats are awesome. The steering wheel is perfect. The ride height is 1/2" too high, but it is still lower than most and damn near perfect. The wheels are awesome - look at how many people paid a fortune for those RAC wheels (admitedly these aren't forged though). AND now BMW offers great M performance products. Adding factory spoilers, interior trim, and even exhaust is great. If only the car had Brembo brakes, BMW would have it right. That will be an improvement in the next series - you see the 6 piston calipers on the new M5.

Audi dissapoints me to no end, they develop some very attractive cars both visually and technologically, yet none can perform as well as they look. (R8 aside)

You will love your M3.

The ZCP wheels ARE forged. According to BMW.

There is a price difference of what, 10k between the S4 and M3. Speaking from personal experience the S4 does a damn good job at giving the M3 a run for it's money straight and on the twisties. Keep in mind Audi didn't target our cars with the S4, but instead 335 and in IMO they surpassed it on everything except driving experience.

Congrats on the M3! Audi S4 was one of the cars I definitely wanted but I guess a test drive is necessary after reading what you wrote.

I agree with you about the window button placement. It's not bad at all on the coupe but on the sedan it's frustrating.

Congratulations!

I agree with you that the Audi S4 was marketed against the BMW 335 which my wife owned. I think AUDI is a great manufacture I loved the 2007 RS4. From my personal experience the B8-S4 can beat many cars in its class and hang with more powerful cars. But the Audi had no sole or emotion its boring the engine note and that fart when shifting drove me crazy. The DCT was so perfect and smooth no spice the ajustments through the MMI did not do much. The steering felt more like a front wheel drive car. Even with the drive selected set to dynamic mode. Trust me it’s a great DD. I wanted to love it and I did not want to write a check for my stupid mistake. I can say most journalist choose BMW. Look at a few opinion’s below? They call it the ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE FOR A REASON.

1. The BMW 3 Series has long been regarded as the benchmark compact sport coupe, sedan and convertible.
2. The 2010 BMW M3 is a phenomenal performer -- providing speed, agility and comfort all in one package. That's why no one's shocked that the BMW M3 is named one of Car and Driver's "10Best" for 2010
3. TOP GEAR: The daddy of all performance saloons, you’ll never be disappointed with a BMW M3. They combine the performance of a supercar, the practicality of a saloon and the fun-factor of a trip to Alton Towers while on a cocaine binge. Apparently.
4. TOP Gear M3 or RS5 The result? The BMW M3 Coupe is still king and at about a second faster than the RS5, it remains the first choice among enthusiasts looking for the ultimate thrill which can still be found in the ….Ultimate Driving Machine.

That's all going to change with the new C63 AMG Coupe.

I'd hope so, 5 years later. Wait till the new M3 or M4? comes out, and the cycle will just start over again.
