Curiously, last weeks Autocar (UK) magazine quotes that the new F30 will be in UK showrooms by [this] Christmas.

FWIW....

+1

No way there are going to debut too brand new generation series models at the same show. Even if the M5 weren't also scheduled, there's no way you'll see 1 and 3 debut together.

I think the E60/F10 timeline you detailed above is the way it will go down with the E90/F30 as well. To me this is the best bet right now.

It's just another speculative remark from a source who isn't putting all the pieces together when forming their conclusions. Show them everything we've been over in this thread and I'll bet they have second thoughts about that prediction.

Best regards,
south
South,
Sounds like we will see a short run of 2012MY E90 M3s like the short run of 2010MY M5s for the NA market.

I've been told very recently that the M3 sedan ends in August 2011.

Who is your source for that info DCC? Certainly that's still a possibility, but clearly the E90 3 series won't be ending that soon so that would mean that they've decided to kill the M3 before the 3 series for some reason.

FWIW, I called my CA yesterday for an update on my E90 order (and to add extended leather ) I was advised that BMW is stalling even accepting new E90 M3 orders for the Canadian market, and that while I shouldn't have any problem getting my car, orders placed in late April or May, have a less than 30% chance of having their orders filled.

Again, just anecdotal evidence from a Canadian perspective, but interesting nonetheless.

This is exactly what happened with the E60 M5. There was a very short three month+ order period for the 2010 model year, which preceded the production period by about 45 days.

Substitute "5" for every "3" above. That's what happened in August, 2009 (M5), what happened with the E46 M in August, 2006, and what will very likely happen in Fall, 2012, within the same time of the overall 3-Series model and the calendar year.

Just to double check as I recalled seeing Scott26 mentioned about end of production for the E90 M3 in Nov 2011 (due to the debut of the F30 3-series) and, for E92/93 M3, production will end in Q4 of 2012 (however, also recall seeing him mention about the Coupe M3 will end production in early 2013) .... can Scott or anyone please comment? Thanks!

damn man -- this is getting dicey...a few weeks ago i was convinced e90 m3s would be produced at least till the end of calendar year 2011 (whether as a 2011my or 2012my)...now i'm thinking they're done sometime this summer...

this wouldn't really matter other than the fact that my plan all along has been to replace my 2009 with one right at the extreme end of the production run...i think i better just order now or risk being left holding my dick in my hand...looks like interest rates are going up anyway, so sooner the better...

Spoke with couple folks at my dealership, 2012 E92 is coming mid summer, it's confirmed.

This is what we know:

E90/E91: EOP late 2011 or early 2012
E92/E93: EOP anywhere from late 2012 to mid 2013

That's for the platforms themselves. Whether the M3 models specifically last until the very end of production for the chassis remains an open question.

I'm sure they mean that's when you'll be able to order. Production won't start until September after the factory shutdown.

Good point. I hadn't considered BMW stopping M3 production even though the chassis is still in production. Have they done this in the past?

I think they might have done it with the E36 M3 sedan, but don't quote me. I'll let someone who was around back then verify that.

So would this mean the e90 gts won't go into production? Or would it be made for only few months.

I was convinced production would stop before september but now who knows?

So, after bantering back and forth with my CA curious as to why I haven't received a production date/ETA on my car (which was ordered in February), here is the response I received:

"The order has been accepted, Im glad we ordered when we did. It looks like the delivery eta has been affected. What BMW did is they gathered all of their e90 m3 orders and are building them at the same time.
You can pass this information on to those interested in an m3 as well. E90
M3's will only be made in the month of June. June will also be the final
month that the e90 m3 is produced. What this means for us is that we,
unfortunately, will not see your car until July"

Copied verbatim from the email I received this afternoon. That Cayman-R is looking better and better all the time *grin*.

Wow! Can any other CAs give independent confirmation of this?? And that sucks about the order delay -- I ordered mine at the beginning of March and will be picking it up in 2 weeks barring any delays at the VPC or transit to the dealer, and even that's been agonizing. Hang in there!
