I could be wrong, but like I have posted before, several reliable sources in “M” division informed me that at least the E90 Sedan will go away in November, and there won’t be a 2012.

The coupe is a good question, but the same source stated that the E92 would be going out of production in January 2012 (that makes no sense to me), so the question is will there be a 2012?

Who said that? Yes there will be a MY2012 E92/E93 M3, and I agree with the others in this thread that have said it will start production in September.

All I can do is pass along the rumor…

My source works for ///M in Germany.

At this point, nobody really knows, but I can tell that I’m convinced that the E90 is going away in November, so I just ordered one before it stops production. If I’m wrong, so what, at least I will have a 2011 M3 sedan (daily driver) just in case it does stop production. If I’m right, and I don’t order the sedan, then I will be SOL. I guess it is like gambling.

Well, that's fine, but I'd put your sources reliability for the E90 date at 75% to 100%, and for the E92/E93 date at less than 5%.

And I'll be most others would agree that I am probably not way out in left field with those estimates.

Are they going to make any changes if they do make a 2012?

Of course my sources could be wrong, everyone could be wrong!

OP I ordered on Feb. 27th and the dealer old me straight that there wouldn't be a 2012. He knew I would be ordering either way, so I don't think it was just to get my money either.

Like stated above, the E90 goes first. E92 will stop next year I believe.

The next model year as far as i know is always introduced mid year (like May June). I could be mistaken. Your most reliable source would be your dealer they should know.

A) when it is first available in Europe

and

B) in North America US & Canada

MY2012

I am going back to Germany (well Afghanistan) next week and I am going to order a 2011 E93 from my Military sales guy in Germany who told me last week prior to me leaving Afghanistan that there will be no 2012 orders bc they will begin retooling the M production line (Jan 2102) for the new M3 in 2013. He stated he would order mine as a demo in Apr and give me an add'l 15% discount (getting the E93 loaded for 65K) and he would hold it downstairs until I leave Afghanistan (Jun 2012). He even ordered the sedan bc its going out AND they are not ANYTHING in 2012...now he is the co-owner of the branch so his word may be about 95% correct.

I bought my 2011 e92 (took delivery) in April 2010. Dealer said it was one of if not the first 2011 delivered in Bay Area.

I have no knowledge one way or the other, but I wonder if US MPG standards, which will be increasing every year from 2011 to 2016 could be playing into possibly not having a US 2012. It's possible the M3 might drag the corporate fuel economy down into the range where BMW would be getting fined, so it would be worth it to discontinue it after 2011 until they have a more fuel efficient model. Even though they'd be forgoeing additional profits. They might be trying to keep around the 2011s as long as possible, if the regs are written such that they continue counting against 2011 CAFE through year end. Given how drastic CAFE forces MPG increases through 2016, this may just be an example of something an automaker does that makes no sense except through that lense.

I am not saying that them stopping production in september is impossible. What I'm saying is, them stopping production in september is impossible if the new one will really come out in 2014-2015. There is no way they won't make M3s for 2.5-3 years.
Ive seen people "wait" for YEARS because they "didnt want to pull the trigger too soon because the new one be coming out soon"...

buy what you want and DRIVE it. There will always be a newer better faster ________. Why spend life WAITING?
